I am having a small gathering in a restaurant. Some family members will be saying speeches. I am sure they might have them at some electronic stores. Does anyone know where they sell microphones with stands? You know the ones one can use to say some words infront of an audience..

Unless you will need this in the future I would recommend going to a music store and renting a small PA. You will be able to rent it for around $100 and buying will probably cost at least $300 unless you find some used stuff. You can find a mic cheap, but not a PA.

Of course, remember you also need an amplifier to plug the Microphone in to.

Check a music store (ones that sell guitars and other music instruments)in your area.
They would have microphones and stands.

throughout ebay, or in case you won't be able to attend, look at some interior sight pawn shops pr song shops. Guitar middle could probably have a inexpensive one. Oh yeah, aim and Wal-Mart have quite inexpensive ones of their "song" section, in case you are able to call it that, yet they are no longer very solid high quality.

I guess ur purpose is one day matter so don't invest much on it
and go in for a basic wired one
and u could locate them in a few computer shops
