Felony is worse because it will most likely carry time. Depending on the crime and under which jurisdiction it was committed ( ie. fedural or state) will determine the punishments, most likely a hefty fine and jail time.

A misdameanor will most likely carry a fine, possibly some jail time which can be transitioned into community service, or a lighter jail sentence with an early possiblity for parole if you are lucky.

hopefully this helps, if not, go to google and look it up in a "law dictionary"

a felony is worse.....

here is a breakdown....

class c misdemeanor....maybe a fine
class b misdemeanor....fine plus possible jail
class a misdemeanor.....Probation, fine or jail

third degree felony.....0-5 years prison
second degree felony......1-15 years prison
first degree felony......5-life prison
capital felony......5-life or the death penalty

some of them also can have enhancements like a crime committed with a gun.
take robbery for instance. here in my state, robbery is a 3rd degree felony, if you use a weapon during the robbery, it becomes an aggrivated robbery, and enhances it to a 2nd degree felony....

simple assult can be a class a misdemeanor, but have a domestic violence enhancement to that, it becomes a 3rd degree felony...
