Even the homosexual community admits that it is a "lifestyle choice" practicing homosexuality is an act of the will. You are given free will by GOD . .. it is not consequential that you are tempted to same-sex attractions . .. that is not a sin . .. but you should willfully dispense with the temptation in favor of GOD that you do not sin . .. willful disobedience to GOD'S LAW is the sin of homosex . .. instead be chaste, pray, confess, find forgiveness and grace to overcome . .. but do not have homosexual relationships . .. Nor masturbate, nor look so as to lust . .. when you have failed in these things confess and find the LORD merciful . .. but do not deny the sin of it, repent . .. nor persecute others for their perversions as the root of perversion is lust and homosex is a perversion . ..
LOVE your neighbor as yourself.
Amen.

There was a study several months ago, the article was on yahoo news, about whether sexual orientation was a choice or programmed into our brains.
The test was this: They compared the brains of straight men, gay men, and straight women. Each group was presented with a male sex hormone. The results?
The straight male brain did not react to it at all, while the gay male and straight female brain reacted the same way. Basically stating that the gay male's brain was the same as a straight woman's in regard to what sex they were attracted to. This implies that they were born that way.
But a more common sense route applies here. Why would people choose to be persecuted? Just because christians find it holy to be persecuted for one's beliefs, does not mean everybody does.
And besides, morals are shifting. What is moral and ethical to one person, may be immoral and unethical to another. So while you say that sex outside of marriage is immoral, I say that any sex between two consenting people is moral. If they want to share pleasure with each other, that is their right. Sex is another way to show somebody that you love them.

I doubt that many in the church instinctively "KNOW" anything, many people in the church have been "TOLD" over and over again that it is wrong. They have also been convinced that if they disagree they will be kicked out of the church.
So no they don't "know" anything other then what they've been "Told". When many people get out and do real research and stop comparing intimacy to murder, rape and criminal behavior, we can truly find out what people "Know".
As to where do you draw the line? How about at the point of "Do no harm." Nice and clean. If they don't harm the society then you don't have to worry about them. And just for the record, making you feel a little icky and not spitting out children is hardly doing harm.

I do NOT believe that homosexuality is a choice in any way shape or form. I refuse to think such things, because let's be honest, who would CHOOSE to be brought down, have less rights, discriminated against, and constantly be made a lower person? I can't think of anyone. With murders and rapists I think that there is a psychological imbalence that causes such things. Yes, they do have a choice, but sometimes it's for reasons of power and personal gain. In homosexuality, there is no personal gain other than being free to be who you are. There have been studies that suggest homosexuality is also a chemical in the brain but who knows? In my eyes there is absolutely nothing "immoral" with being homosexual. Nothing. Killing someone and loving someone are two very different things.

That's why we need the Word of God, the bible, to help us know what is moral or immoral. Without this, through the centuries, immoral practices will eventually become accepted as norm. A bit like in George Orwell's Animal Farm when the pigs took over and declared that 'Two legs bad' until they started to walk like humans then became 'Four legs bad'. The sensitive issue now for the Anglican church is having openly declared gay clergyman which is being tolerated. Should we accept this as moral - go back to the bible and see what it says, if you are God-fearing.

I am a Christian who doesn't believe it's a choice.
OK, everyone has a "type" that they're more inclined to.
For instance tall women and red headed women for me. When I see one I am almost always tempted on some level. I have to choose not to go to that.
I have always been like this. From the time I was a kid, I remember my uncle bringing this really tall woman he was dating over and I was beside myself.
I think homosexuals have to choose to not go there.
It's the same sin for them, as when I lust after a woman in my heart. There's no difference, and I have to choose to not follow my base instincts. God gave me a brain and he requires self control.
I know of a minister who admits that he is attracted to men, but won't follow those urges (he's celebate) because he knows it's a sin.
God will honor him for that and reward him for his choice.

I don't really get your question because I think most people who are not religious don't see being gay as a choice, you're born gay or straight.
Who makes excuses for murderers, rapists, etc? Yes, some are mentally ill but for the most part, I don't see anyone condoning their behavior. What does that have to do with being gay? I don't get it.
Gay people are not harming anyone. It's THEIR life, not yours and they're not hurting you, are they? No.

i have doubts that it is genetic. obviously there are some that simply make the choice, but then there are others that from a very young age discover that they are gay. i believe in those instances, their enviroment was the cause, a divorce, molestation, death, or anything else very traumatic at a young age can effect the brain chemically in ways that we have yet to fully understand. i wouldn't say that its their fault and they should be punished for it if thats the case.
edit: if it's not a choice and they are born that way... then why would your god intentionally create beings to damn them? in your bible god says that homosexuality is wrong yet god created homosexuals?? something doesn't add up there!

Your "question" makes no sense. Outside? Inside? Murder and rape, what have they got to do with homosexuality? And "morale" is a kind of group-confidence. Any chance you could rewrite in English and post as Additional Details?

The line is very clear. Hurting others is immoral. Doing good for others is moral. Homosexuality hurts no one (and is not a choice).

If you take someone else's life or freedom, that is immoral.
We all have a limited amount of life, and should be held accountable for taking that life or the freedom to live it away from another.
Christians are misguided in going after homosexuality. They are forgetting what they were really tasked to do.
