I was just browsing websites for what to pack in your hospital bag for when you go into labor. What are some things that you packed that may not be on "the list" but you found you couldn't live without while you were in the hospital?

These are all good answers. The only thing I'd add is something to do while you're in labor. If you get the epidural it's all pretty much a waiting game. I spent about 4 hours watching soaps and evening game shows, waiting for my first. I would have appreciated a book of crosswords or something.

I didn't use half of what I brought...
Bring shampoo, soap, conditioner, toothbrush/paste, deodorant, hairbrush, hair ties, SNACKS and drinks for husband when you go into labor because you won't want him to leave you, slippers, clothes to wear if you have visitors, clothes (maternity) to wear home. Your belly may have deflated a bit but you still look about 6 or 7 months pregnant. Clothes for baby, baby wipes because they won't supply you with those in the hospital, maybe some extra pads and some underwear.

I didn't use 1/2 of what I packed. I did use my make- up everyday though.

I brought alone my own pajamas- and never used them because I bled so much, I didn't want my own stuff to get ruined. So, I stayed in the hospital gown and was more comfy as well as the fact that it made breastfeeding easier.

Other than make-up- anything I needed, they provided.

When I had both of my babies I ended up having my husband bring clothes for the baby from home. They both had trouble maintaining their body temp and once I got them warm with nothing on against my skin I would put them in a full sleeper with socks to keep the legs on. It worked great and my OB now tells others to do it as well.

This also helped family/Daddy recognize our little one when they were out of our room for exams.

For you, some breath mints or hard candy and some bottled water. Sometimes waiting for the nurses can mean waiting a while for a drink.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

My pregnancy clothes. It was very annoying to discover that just because the baby popped out, I didn't automatically get a lot smaller. That and make up. I left mine home and cringe at every in-hospital photo. Yuck! I look like I'm sick, not a new mother. Glowing I wasn't.

Socks with the sticky feet (or slippers)... toothbrush, hair brush, hair ties, extra nighties, hard candy or cough drops (dry hospital air did me in!!).

And the clothes you go home in... make sure they're really comfy.. like sweatpants and a soft shirt... You won't want to put on anything that's too tight (even if it's maternity).

GOod luck!

Your own soaps, shampoo, conditioner. The hospital's aren't very good.
A COUPLE of outfits for the baby. With our first son, he pooed in his nice one, luckily I brought another one!
Slippers for you to wear home - or really big shoes. My shoes would not fit b/c I was retaining so much water!
A trash bag for all yours and your hubby's dirty laundry.
Another empty bag for all the stuff the hospital gives you.
Definently makeup!!

I packed some of those wet wipes (sold with toilet paper) for adults. Cottonelle and Scott both make them. It made cleanup after trips to the toilet much easier.

Many things were already mentioned here. I'm going to add on a few. These are not everyones choices for necessities, but I really appreciated them.

Depending on service, cell phone charger!
DVD Player. (we have a portible one that is priceless!)
Photo album. They give you pictures and you may get cards, ect. I had a quick and easy way to store them and share them this other guests who came to visit.
