alcohol does depress the senses and some people feel the effect immediately and for others, a few days after. but it's a case to case basis. take into consideration the quantity of alcohol consumed, if the person is already suffering from depression or if there's a problem at hand to cause the state of depondency. always remember that though alcohol may numb the person, that doesnt exactly solve the problem

Yes. It causes dehydration, which in turn upsets your hormone balance. It also messes with your sleep cycle. Why not alternate alchololic with non-alcohol drinks instead of being a sheep and just binging. It makes your immune system vulnerable as well. Colds will make you depressed and you won't notice the symptoms for a couple of weeks.

If you do binge, take a course of multivits, some live yoghurts and keep your liquids up afterwards.

Like others have said alcohol IS as depressant. I do drink occasionally but I'm fully aware of the consequences.

That's why doctors normally tell you to stay clear if you take anti-depressants as they kill the effect. Apart from the psychological, it also acts as a barrier to actively take action on what's bothering you.

Alcohol is a depressant, full stop. The natural reaction to alcohol is a lowering of your mood.
