Morbidity and Mortality Conference reviews all adverse outcomes reported to it. A report is sent, usually to the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff. At least one member of hospital administration is on the staff as well as representation from the Nursing Service. Corrective action is taken either by the committee itself, the Executive Committee, or Hospital Administration, depending on how the bylaws are set up. Some hospitals have one M&M Committee, others have a committee to serve each service, Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, etc.

It is an important committee and its duties are outlined by JCAHO, the Joint Committee on Accreditation of Health Organizations.

LOL,Vot! Yes I've been at many 'crazy meetings'. It usually starts with the sound Brother playing the wrong song and then it just gets goofier from there and everything just seems to make us laugh. Just last night the School Overseer was almost about to do the Bible reading himself because he couldn't see the youngster who was assigned to read it. But then the little boy popped up ready to do the Bible reading and the Brother cracked up and the little boy did the reading. The little boy had a lot of problems with pronunciation. Of course that was what he was working on. The Brother kindly though commended him on all the good things he did during the reading. That wasn't too far out but I have been at many meetings where we all ended up laughing the whole time because nobody seemed able to get things right. We are just imperfect humans after all and sometimes it's really funny.
