Boiled peanuts are tasty and really easy to make. Get yourself some "green" peanuts (not green in color but not totally mature) and soak them in cold water for about a half hour to help remove the dirt and moisten them. Dump this water and then place the peanuts into boiling water with salt (how much depends very much on your taste). Boil for at least 3-4 hours. I like mine a little soggier so I let mine go for 7-8 hours. The longer they sit in the water, the saltier they get. You may need to add more water as it evaporates. Drain, enjoy, freeze anything you don't eat for later consumption!

Yes. I'm from Georgia and live in Georgia now and we make boiled peanuts every year and freeze them so we can have them throughout the winter. They are really easy to make. Rinse your peanuts and place in the largest stock pot you have. Cover with water and turn on high heat to boil. When boiling add in salt (1 1/2 to 2 cups) regular table salt or to taste. Turn heat down and let them boil for one hour or until desired tenderness. I don't like mine boiled too long or they are mushy. They are delicious!

BOILED PEANUTS
Bring a large pot (about 7 quarts) of water to a boil. Pour in 1/4 cup of salt (canning or kosher salt is less expensive).
Drop peanuts in to boil; put plate on top of peanuts. Fill a jar with water and set on top of plate to keep peanuts under the water.
Cook over high heat until peanuts begin to boil. Turn off heat.
Allow to cool.
When cool, bring to a boil again and cook for about 15 minutes.

Boiled peanuts could be prepared in home itself. Peanut shell must not be broken. A cup of peanuts must be taken
and boil in water. It is good for health for older people. In boiled peanut fats and oil content will be taken away by the steam.

You have to buy the green peanuts, and you boil them in salt pretty much easy to make. I lived in a GA for most of my life. The one thing I miss living in NE, they roast them here mostly.

I'm basically omnivorous , but boiled peanuts have got to be one of the more disgusting things that I've ever eaten. One sample was enough to last me several lifetimes. YUCK!!!

Steamed is better. More of the taste stays. When boiled, some of the flavor leaches out into the water.

i was in baton rouge a few months ago and had some. it had been a long time. i love them! you can't make them yourself unless you have a source for raw peanuts. there are places on the web you can order them by mail and now and then you can find them in cans!. heat them up and they're not bad

Yes. I really like them when they are fresh from the boiler. I had them often when I lived in South Carolina. Yum! How about you? Do you like them? They're good with a cold Coke.
