I just saw a report that over 50% of people don't believe a woman should be able to breast-feed her child in public. I was appalled. How else is someone who is breast-feeding supposed to leave the house the first few months? Hide in bathrooms?!? What do you think?

It sometimes takes me a bit by surprise, but I used to work in a kids furniture store and I got used to it. It haws never offended me. I think our country has a problem with nudity. For that reason cannot see a breast as a non-sexual thing. If a woman is baring her breast to feed her child, it is not strange or perverse. People need to lighten up a little. People who do have a problem with it probably have some deeper issues to deal with.

It's a natural thing. Who can be offended by nature? Besides, most of the time I don't even notice it's going on. Who cares what others think! Let mom feed HER baby how SHE wishes!

Yes, I agree if done discreetly, it's fine in public. It's the absolute best nourishment a child can receive in their first year of life.

I'm certainly not offended. Depending on the situation I might even lend a helping hand... or two. It's a beautiful and cheap alternative to formula. With these gas prices I wish I could still breast feed.

I think that survey must be wrong; I've read several that say most Americans are okay with it....of, course you'll always have the perverts that sexualize everything..

I'm not offended. However, these ladies need to take special effort to be modest and discrete.

Have a good day!

yes, there are people who find breast-feeding in public inappropriate, i am one
If you decided to have a child you should have prepared yourself to sitting at home for some time at least while it needs your constant attention. Besides, there are special places designated for breast-feeding and taking care of babies (at least in malls and like)
Why should public breast -feeding be allowed? Of course it's natural and all that, but not more 'natural then other things that you do in the bathroom.
So - Yes, Please Stick to the Bathroom Schedule

I am not offended at all. But sometimes, I do admit to feeling uncomfortable about it, but that is my problem not the mother who is breastfeeding.

I don't think it's the best thing to do out in public. Bring a baby bottle or something. But if you must feed it, go somewhere private.
