Also, state your religion...

For me: Def. materialist, and Buddhist.

I never quite understood what people find wrong about materialism. Spiritualists, state your qualms with it. :)

I'm definitely a materialist (and an atheistic-agnostic who studies Buddhist meditation and philosophy). I think that people who have difficulty accepting the illusory nature of the common notion of "free will" have a hard time fully accepting materialism.

There's also the nagging mix-up of "materialism" with rampant capitalism, in which people shop 'til they drop. That kind of materialism is simply compulsive consumerism. Philosophical materialism simply looks for the explanations of our natural universe WITHIN our natural universe, and denies the need for a supernatural force to create it.

Some folks cannot tease apart the common use (capitalism) with philosophical materialism. And that is indeed their loss.

I lean toward the Bible.
Luke 9:25 ' For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?'.
So many things can happen, you could loose everything you have, and then if you don't have God, what do you have? The answer is nothing.

Mysticism.

Mysticism is finding the Absolute within yourself rather than "out there somewhere."
