Because, as men, we're raised to be tough and hard, and "knock off that damn crying, you f'n baby". Nurture really isn't an inate response in men, it's learned. The cold, stand-offish nature of men is in direct proportion to the cold reality that the world is hard. That's why we can focus on directions and building things, but can't listen to you talk about your feelings and emotions very well. We're not wired for it.
The good news is, with time...and maybe counceling, we can do it. Just give ole boy a few years and maybe some sessions with a shrink, and he'll be good to go.

As a guy i hate to get emotional because getting emotional does not help me fix a situation. Rational thought and logic is better than sitting there and blubbering like a school girl.

Wow lots of bitterness around. Define get emotional. Do you mean as in jumping up and down screaming and crying?
I think most men are emotional they simply have better control of how and when they display that emotion.

Men like to uphold a sense of mastery over their environment. Our cars, our dogs, our lives, and our emotions. Everything around us needs to have a sense of control and bending to our desire. (This is true for almost all men, more for some, less for others.)
If you can't control your emotions, as a man, we feel we are behaving like a child, or dare I say it, a woman. No offense ladies.

i think b/c they see women emotional sometimes and they dont want to look or act like a "woman"
