People bash Muslims all the time. If you haven't noticed it, then you are not paying attention. Search Muslim and terrorists in the question area. As for Buddhists, you are right. They do not seem to get bashed as often. If you want to know why, search for questions where a Buddhist tries to convert a non-Buddhist or threatens a gay with Hell.
That's your reason.

Is is NEVER acceptable to bash someone's religious or spiritual beliefs, even if they seem strange to you.

Christianity is not so much at fault, as some of the very bad examples we see set in the media. When you have evangelical ministers shouting on the television and pointing fingers at others, then getting caught doing worse, it looks bad to both Christian and non-Christian. In the end people start to think "all" are like that one or two bad examples.

Of course, there are those on the fringes, who do really odd things that draw negative attention and thought.

Such as the group that went on a field trip and jumped into the hotel pool with all their clothes on. That brought a lot of unpleasant attention down on them as well as other Christians.

Society has become very judgmental, and in the U.S. it has been deemed ok to point and ridicule certain people and not others. What you are now seeing is a case of reverse discrimination.

I have said and will repeat again:

One: Christians and Muslims enjoy being attacked. They feel martyrised. The Danish cartoon incident was beefed up with pictures and cartoons that never appeared in the Danish press, or that had nothing to do with the matter.

Two: Christians and Muslims are extemely sensitive about being hurt, but see no problem in trying to extend their beliefs into my life. I do not want to go to heaven and Jesus did not offer his life for me. I do not want to be converted and crhistians see me as a sitting duck they can shoot at at will. I think e.g. that the pope's ideas are offensive. But if I say so, I am a christian-basher. If the Pope says other people other second rate christians, does he have a direct telephone line with god?

Three: wherever they see the chance, christians, muslims, hindus and buddhist try to dominate the public domain. I think the example of monolithic Islam states is well known. I must state here that there are exceptions who deserve our attention. Christians are not suppressed in all states with a dominant islam culture. The jewish community in Iran has turned down an offer to migrate to Israel only recently. They are proud to be Iranians. Hurrah for the Iranian Jews!

The christians who feel bashed here might do an effort to stop US fundies to prevent people in Africa to use effective birth control methods. If I say that is criminal, am I bashing again? Or have fundies done something I have missed and that entitles them to immunity?

Let me bash the Thai buddhists here or at least those of them who, in spite of the words of their Lord Buddha are driven by greed. Some even have conceived the idea that Buddhism should become their state religion. At a moment when tensions with muslims run high, after decades of discrimination and the efforts of buddhist ex pm Thaksin to start his own war on terrorism, it would be difficult to come up with a more silly idea. Long live the tolerant buddhists of Thailand.

Three: Christians and Muslims have a history of being oppressors of people who have other ideas. It would help if they would reread their holy books and their history.

Four: For the love of YOUR saviour, please give us a few examples of when you feel actually bashed. I think you are just preaching in the desert. I hope you do not feel bashed because the church had to go deep in the pockets in L.A.
Let me quote: "Blessed be the poor." And that one about the birds in the fields. Bashed? Come on.

Fve: if somebody feels bashed, have your toes cut, they are too long.

Ideas should be bashed, wrung out and hung to dry. They are instruments for the people to be happy. Anyone who puts ideas higher than people is a people basher.

Long live the people who send me e-mails. Even those who do not see the difference between people and ideas. You have my special blessing. No thanks.

Do your best to have a nice day. You all deserve it.

Where do you get the mistaken idea that Islam and Buddhism, etc. aren't bashed just as much as Christians???

Okay, maybe not Buddhism so much. But Islam gets slammed all the time, and so do most non-Christian faiths and philosophies.

it incredibly is fairly a non question. There are nonetheless gay human beings being crushed up, it incredibly is not all nicey nicey now. i hit upon the Adam and Steve slightly unusual although. i'm no longer a Christian, besides the undeniable fact that, the Adam and Eve tale is a creation tale in a faith and subsequently shouldn't get replaced on a whim. it is considerable that it incredibly is Adam and Eve thus because of the fact it incredibly is an analogy on the backside of the middle jap Shepardic religions. maximum gay human beings i understand would be horrified to income Adam and Steve. it is till they then observed Cain and able. concepts you, i do no longer see what soccer has to with with something, it incredibly is in basic terms a pastime - no longer a great one at that! Hockey is larger, so is cricket. besides, i've got not got a probelm with gay human beings being represented proportionally in the media, regrettably that isn't consistently ensue. If the media stopped treating it as this style of great factor then being gay would be in basic terms yet another element of society, no longer something on the exterior.

Islam seems to be taking quite a bashing recently.

Christians make fun of reincarnation and Buddhists all the time.

It actually should be acceptable to question any religious belief that doesn't make sense.

Christians like to say that it is ok to laugh at other religions because they are false. However, when questioned about their own, unbelieveable beliefs, they get defensive and ask for religious tollerance.

Bash Christians? Well, I don´t think that´s true - just go and ask members of other religions and they would say the same.
Everybody feels treated badly and misunderstood...
My parents still feel, that they have to defend themselves permanently because we are Jews... I think it´s just stupid.
Nobody really tries bash me because of my religion. Just ignorant and stupid people do so.
What happens nowadays is that many people are afraid of Muslims in general and honestly, it´s terrible to see that because of very few radical extremists a whole religion seems to be damned as evil.
It´s horrible to see, how ignorant many people are...

People who are non-believers spend just about their whole lives bashing and discrediting the Bible and Christian ways..not ALL Christians are the same, and not all try to force our religion on others...People just cant accept the fact that someone loves them enough to die and take on their sins so that they arent doomed to an eternity in hell. and thats fine, you dont HAVE to believe...
I personally think that its better to live and believe there is a God to find out there isnt, than to live like there is no God and find out there is...what have you got to lose?
Also, I think that non-believers consist of a group of skeptics that have to "see it to believe it"...God has a special purpose for these kinds of people, for everyone.
But as I said, they will do just about any and EVERYthing to discredit Christian beliefs...could it be envy?
I dont really care anymore whether someone has a problem with me talking about Jesus, if it offends you or rubs you the wrong way, OBVIOUSLY you arent happy with your own little world of disbelief...because if you were, there would be NO NEED to bash...people only bash when they are defending themselves, why defend yourself if you are truely satisfied with your lifestyle? Silly non-believers...

I would agree that Christians get bashed but disagree that Islam doesn't. Islam gets bashed all the time, at least on conservative leaning media outlets.

Don't feel singled out -- I'm an equal-opportunity basher!

Although with many of the Eastern religions (Buddhism, Taoism, etc.) they seem to me to be more of a philosophy than a religion, and are generally more tolerant of faiths other than their own; so I'd generally go more leniently with them.
