With the majority of English speaking religious fanatics in the US i thought that yahoo would be a good place to ask this question, also isn't it crazy that most of the people the US is killing in this “war on terror” are just mirrors of themselves e.g. religious fanatics like George and Osama.

From my experience with fanaticism, I have come to realise that most of it is through fear. Fear of hellfire, fear of bringing down retribution, etc. And a feeling that you are "special", "Called out", the "Chosen ones". And the rest of humanity are damned unless you convert them.
The trouble is that when you begin to water down your religion to make it less vengeful, it no longer appeals to the fanatics.
I am actually quite religious, but the more of I see of fanaticism, the more attracted I am to atheism.

Religion kills more people than drugs. Bet God's thrilled about that.

People have been hiding behind religion for centuries using it to cover their inadquacies and to get exactly what it is they want at any cost. It has sod all to do with God.

You can ask people to step out form behind their mask and be honest about being selfish, callous, genocidal manics, but apart from that I cant really see how you can stop it peacefully.
I like your thinking though.

i don't think you can stop people from being religious fanatics. because in america you have freedom of expression and religion so who are you to tell people they can't practice their religion the way they want to? i personally don't like fanatics, but you can't stop them. and bush is an idiot, because you can't stop terror before it happens. and even if you can it has nothing to do w/ religion. many people seem to think, because of bush and his administration that islam allows for terror when it doesn't. in actuality people just don't like america

I think Religion is an outdated concept, those who are truly "good" representatives of their religion do not shout about that religion being the only or best religion. personally I do not need religion in my life to live a "proper life" to think that being a member of an organised religion assures that you live a decent life is ridiculous, equally as ridiculous as assuming that atheists/ agnostics are all bad people. People are people.. they should be judged by their actions, not their beliefs.

they could in the event that they tried. the element is there'll continuously be people who think of that they are extra constructive than human beings, and that they've got here across the only authentic faith. the reason i won't be able to get alongside with some chritsians is the certainty that they warfare to push their faith onto me. i could fairly fortunately stay in conjunction with all and sundry else, by fact i do no longer care what faith human beings are.
