The actual word repent means to "turn away from"
So in our Godly sense, it means to turn from sin....and to turn to Christ

It means "to turn away from". In this case, it means to make a pact with God not to do the sinful things of your past anymore after entering a covenant relationship with Him through repentance, water baptism, sanctification (living a pious life according to Scripture) and being filled with the Holy Ghost.

Granny,
The original writings actually mean to "turn from" thus when we repent of our sins we "turn from those sins". GOD expects a Christian to do so and not return to them. We are also told in Rev 2:10 to "continue to be faithful until death". This is another part of the BIBLE that some Christians want to ignore. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds (Christian)

it means a fresh view from god. when you sin, God will forgive you when you repent. Repentance is very important. Without this there can be no progress in the things of the soul's salvation.

confess to Jesus with your mouth and may it be the truth from within your heart asking the lord for forgiveness. if you are considering repenting then you're considering becoming a new person, there's no sin too big for God to forgive. he's just and willing to accept you as long as you realize Ur mistakes.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

13If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
14If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Don't just apologize for your sins but also stop sinning that way and try to repair any damage you did when sinning.
Why forgive someone for something when they're shur to do it again?
Blessed Be!
