Is it like the Vatican is to Catholics?

Thanks

Thanks for the answers. The reason I asked is that it seems some Jehovah's Witnesses talk as though there is little relationship between then and what the WTBS says or does. Yet other Jehovah's Witnesses tell me they are basically one and the same - WTBS is run by Jehovah's Witnesses - and thus no real separation

The WBTS is who they worship over God...it has been proven time and again that the WBTS is a blatant voice of false prophecy, and Still rank and file JW's will believe what the WBTS tells them to believe...

It is frightening....i myself pray for these lost souls daily, and thank gos for taking the blinders off my eyes so I can see the real TRUTH.

Suzanne..it is Just like the vatican except for the ring kissing...and tha Catholics are closer to the scriptures in doctrine....it is putting Mans words before Gods laws.

No, it's NOT like the Vatican. The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, a legal religious corporation that is used by Jehovah’s Witnesses, was incorporated in 1884 in accordance with the Nonprofit Corporation Law of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Thus, by law it cannot be, and it is not, a profit-making enterprise, nor do individuals make a profit through this Society. The Society’s charter states: “It [the Society] does not contemplate pecuniary gain or profit, incidentally or otherwise, to its members, directors or officers.”

By voluntary contributions, as was true with the early Christians. (2 Cor. 8:12; 9:7) No collections are ever taken at their meetings; they never solicit money from the public. The contributions for Bible literature are to cover the cost of printing and shipping.

Witnesses are not paid to go from house to house or to offer Bible literature on the streets. Love for God and for neighbor motivates them to talk about God’s loving provisions for mankind.

POST SCRIPT: GG28 Quote "Of course only more of a "strangle hold" since they can't read a regular Bible, can't associate with others who do and MUST go around and hand out those stinking little pamphlets (which they have to buy from their own money). It is a 'mind-blinding', 'brain-washing' organization" UNQUOTE

Well there's a pack of lies. Lets examine the truth. Many Witnesses use the KJ, and many other translations of the Bible. In fact, we'll use which ever Bible the householder has. We do NOT have to buy our literature, and just for the record YOU don't have to either. The rest of his toxic remarks aren't worth answering.

2. No, it is Not.

I'd like to address some of the negativity, here.
I Don't Ever recall any Q's like: (or similar to)
Do you swear alligence to the WBTS?
At the qualifing to be an unbaptised publisher.
At any assembly.
At any study.
At any convention.
Or Any Baptism.
The Q's are always about Jesus and his God and Father,
ONLY. Oh! well, His Kingdom also, & urself.

We adhere to the Bible On All Subjects.
The Final Authority on All Matters Is YHWH aka Jehovah.

Personally: Before I started studying w/ Witnesses
& in the beginning...I RESEARCHED EVERYTHING.
Now, I trust the Bible,
and so there is where my research begins.

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (of Pennsylvania, also of New York), Inc. is a legal entity, incorporated according to the law of the land. It is the entity which publishes Bibles and Bible aids. The headquarters are located in Brooklyn, New York. All who participate in the publishing are Jehovah's Christian Witnesses.

Jehovah's Christian Witnesses is a religious group, not a corporation. I am a Christian Witness of Jehovah, one of 6.7 million. I am not at the headquarters in Brooklyn. Nor do I have a hand in publishing for the world-wide Bible education work. I receive many of my Bibles and Bible aids from this publishing entity. But not all. I have over a dozen different Bible translations in my study library that do not come from the publishing Society. I also have Bible encyclopedias, concordances, expository dictionaries, Greek Bibles, Hebrew Bibles and other Bible-based materials which I bought from bookstores just as other people do.

Incidentally, the Watchtower Society published other Bibles - including the beloved King James Version - long before it began to publish the NWT. It is very curious that some people feel we "wrote our own Bible" in order to make it conform to our beliefs. Where do people think all the different Bibles came from today? Where do people think the New International Version, the New American Standard Version, the New King James Version came from?

The New American Bible is a Catholic Bible. This I have in my study library. Does anybody feel it was unnecessary for the Catholic religion to come up with this translation? Does anybody feel the Catholic religion rewrote the Bible to conform to their beliefs? The New Jerusalem Bible is another Catholic Bible. So is the Catholic Douay Version. This is also in my library. Does anybody feel it was unnecessary for the Catholic religion to come up with these translations as well?

The New King James Version was brought out as an improvement, apparently, of the King James of 1612. Do people who swear by the original King James feel that the new was not needed? Was something wrong with the King James of 1612?

The International Bible Society is the sponsor of publishing the New International Version: Their mission: "The mission of IBS-STL Global is to advance the Kingdom of God through translating, producing, and distributing Bibles, Scripture materials, and other Christian resources so people around the world may become disciples of Jesus Christ." Do people have concerns because this Bible Society "translates, produces, and distributes Bibles, Scripture materials and other Christian resources so people can become disciples of Christ?" Why is it acceptable for them but totally unacceptalbe when it comes to the Watchtower Bible Society?

The American Bible Society produces the Good News Translation Bible. Are folks concerned about this? Is the American Bible Society called names because they produce a translation other than the "Holy Bible" as one poster put it?

Tyndale House Publishers publishes the New Living Translation. Is there a problem here?

It is beneficial to consider an issue in its entirety rather than immediately begin name-calling and negative labeling. The Watchtower Bible Society is doing nothing substantially different than other Bible societies when it comes to publishing Bibles, translating Bibles, and producing Bible materials for Bible education and disciple making. If one wishes to condemn the Watchtower Bible Society solely on the basis of Bible education, one ought to be prepared to condemn all the others. Yes?

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is the legal corporation that contracts publishers aka JWs to make them all their money while not paying for the labor or commission.

JWs reading that statement should realize I'm sticking up for YOU and I am not fond of the WBTS.

Regarding the similarity to the Vatican... I have seen JWs make the comparison valid, while others are disgusted to even be compared to the whore of Babylon.

I is the publication. To place where everywhere that there is a table or a rack or somewhere it will sit for people to find. They use it to show that they are right and the whole world is wrong. They do not believe in the Holy Spirit as a person, or that Jesus Christ is Yahweh, or Jehovah. The believe and only recently acquiscent that he is a god, but not Jehovah God.

My faith and trust is in Jehovah God, His Son, and His Word.

My dedication is to Jehovah God, thru His Son.

My knowledge of Jehovah is thru His word the Bible.

The faithful slave that Jesus has appointed to 'feed' his flock uses the WTBTS to publish materials we use.

This faithful slave is not inspired nor is it infallible, nor has it any powers unto itself.

The faithful slave is like the Beroeans who search the scriptures (God's word) to verify what it says.

When I read something in the publications, I verify what is being said with the scriptures

When I read something in the publications, I know that the information has been thoroughly researched and it is the best understanding currently available.

Just like the apostles who had to change their thinking on numerous occations and they were inspired.

The WTBTS has had to rethink their understanding on many things.

I have found only humility and honesty in connection with this organization, unlike many other so called Christian Organizations.

I have found when changes are needed this slave makes those changes, unlike many so called Christian Organizations.

I have found that the slave uses only God's word and not the philosophies of Plato to establish truth.

Plato taught trinities, Plato taught immortality of the soul.

Jesus taught to worship the Father, the only true God.
Jesus taught the soul can be destroyed.
