Sweeter, perhaps old-fashioned enough to be nostalgic, is "Will you be my girl?"

By the time I was a senior in high school, I thought this phrase was kind of dumb. I think you get to an age where using 'will you go out with me' isn't something you say. I think it becomes a more natural process. Once you find yourself spending a lot time with somebody and you think it might be an exclusive thing, from my experience at least, you kind of just talk it out and come to a decision. Or if you're lucky, the guy comes up with some crazy romantic way to ask you, without saying 'will you go out with me?'

It's not really the words that establish a relationship...it's your actions. If you see a girl 3-4 times a week, meet her friends/family...you're in love AND exclusive.
You could have 'the talk' if you wish, but at that point it's pretty much solid that you two are exclusive based on your ACTIONS, not WORDS.

It seems to me that once you reach a certain age (out of high school dating) you just dont even ask anymore, it just... happens... of course i remember the high school dating scene, you tell your friend to ask her out, she has her friend, maybe a note, etc...
but i noticed that after HS, the GF's i have had, you just start dating and next thing you know your together as a couple, there was no asking out, nothing like that... i think when you mature you realize it doesnt need to be asked, that they kind of assume you are a couple once you hang out enough or fo on a few dates

Yeah - sounds like junior high to me.
If you want to be exclusive with someone at my age (almost 30) - I would say that you have a little sit down and tell the person how much you enjoy spending time with them and ask the person how they feel about being exclusive with you...

"Will you go out with me?" is something that has just stuck over the years. I won't knock anyone for saying it though. Some of us are not great with words, myself included.
However, once people are no longer in their teens no one really uses this phrase anymore.

i think of you may relax so deeply and settle for issues to such an quantity which you sense love in each and every thing. you will nonetheless react to oppose issues which look out of cohesion with the situations, yet there is what i assume is 'unconditional love' for existence itself which works previous all situations and types. i think of letting pass of the innovations which make us stressful and consciously relaxing into each and every 2nd can take you to a love this is unconquerable. whilst i think of this provides you with super 'power' in the international, this love conquers the phobia interior, extremely than stumbling blocks exterior, which could persist.

Normally, older people will only say "will you go out with me" if they are inviting someone some place...
Even now, I dont hear many teenagers using this phrase...They are more direct now, then when I was in high school...

after about middle skewl... there was this phase that ppl started calling "talkin" or "dating" if someone and i are dating... the first relationship out of middle skewl me and the guy kissed and i was like, "so does this make you my boyfriend" and smiled and he thought it was kute... and another relationship, i was like "so are we going to keep playin or are we gonna make this official?" i kinda said it in a joking matter but he knew i was serious... and the relationship i'm in now my guy was just like "when you gonna be my girl" and i was like "uhhh, how bout now" lol so yah... asking somebody out is not so "formal" to me anymore... it's just both of you know when the time is to be official... just one of you have to decide to bring it up unless you just wanna "date" forever... hope i helped... *KP*

Nothing wrong with that phrase. Always nice to use it once in a while.
