Destiny doesnt exist, merely probability.
For example, I remember the not so great George W Bush saying it was his destiny to be the President. I think it's more that his father opened up all the doors for him. To me, thats not destiny, thats his parents increasing his probability of being the President form an early age.
My destiny lies with the choices I make and the probable outcomes of them (if I sleep with lots of women, there's a high chance the wife will leave me, for instance!).

I do not believe in destiny and I think that it is dangerous to do so.
Any person can acheive whatever they want if they are willing to put forth enough effort to do so. When people surrender their ambitions to destiny or say "I guess it was not meant to be," what they are really doing is admitting that the things it takes to acheive their goals are too difficult and they are giving up. A belief in destiny is a defense mechanism of sort.

You contradict yourself.
You say; "for me its runes and i think its destiny". How can it be destiny if that is what you think? You are saying you have made a decision (taken a choice) to decide that destiny (not having a choice) guides your life.
If you think, if you make choices, then your life is based upon what you do decide and do. Is it not?

Destiny - in a twisted sense, well, sure. Actually as an atheist I believe the mind is entirely in the physical world, therefore its entirely deterministic. Therefore we don't ever really make "decisions" per say... its more a matter of inputs & outputs... combine genetics, with the things you've learned, heard, etc... you get... your life.
Basically I believe 1+1=2 whereas others, who believe in God, destiny, etc etc believe 1+1=2.5

Destiny as was decided before the foundation of the earth but only to those who developed a close relationship with the One God who assigns destiny, listens closely to His instructions, and obeys Him as He guides. For every one else it is the consequence of selfish, rebellious, hateful, and sinful actions.

Choices of course. If it was destiny, why then even bother getting up to try to make your life better in the morning - if you can't do anything about it anyway?

Destiny and the Providence of the One True God leads us but prayer can change things to those who believe deeply enough, but it is limited to a certain degree.

To me "Destiny" is the sum action of all the uncontrolled events that effect our actions. Destiny presents us with choices but it is up to us to make them
