Should I upgrade to Microsoft Vista?

I am currently using Microsoft XP but should I upgrade to Vista.

I would not recommend upgrading your operating system to Windows Vista for several reasons. First off, if you expect to enjoy all of the features Vista offers you should have, at the least, a high-end 64 bit platform based processor, and preferably a multi-core 64 bit platform based processor. As well, Vista is not all that it is cracked up to be as it contains many features Apple has had on their operating systems for several years, and like many other people claimed, there are still bugs being worked out on this new system. Similarly, you must understand that it takes time for all software and components to become compatible with a new operating system. At this moment there are still many programs and drivers that are unavailable for the Windows Vista platform. Lastly, Microsoft seems to be taking internet pirate security to another level, as one of the "features" on the new operating system which is not highly publicized is the fact that Microsoft can view and edit (delete) any files/documents which they deem to be unfit, without your permission. This basically amounts to the fact that Microsoft holds the rights to delete anything they claim to be suspicious, i.e. pirating their software, expansion packs, other microsoft related programs, etc. Consequently, I am not exactly positive about this, but it could possibly mean that they have the right to delete ANY pirated software of any kind, possibly including music, videos, programs, etc. which are downloaded from sites such as Bitlord for free, and not bought. All in all, I say stick with XP, as pretty much everything is compatible with it, it is stable, and you won't have to worry about big brother interfering in your activities. Perhaps wait until some computer technician or hacker finds some loophole in blocking Microsoft from having any access to your hardrive, and all drivers and programs are full compatible.

Before you upgrade, check that all of your hardware and software is compatible. Next, make sure you have a powerhouse of a system, w/ at least 2 GB of ram. I just got Vista recently after I realized everything I had would work on it. The OS is kinda buggy, but I do appreciate its look and feel. It's a little more intelligent than XP too, but User Account Control can get annoying after a while.

Edit: despite what the guy above me said, you do not need a 64 bit processor unless you intend to work with large ammounts of data (such as editing audio and video, or running a database / web server). Using 64 bit will only consume more memory for little performance gain.

You shouldn't pirate software, but I don't know where he got that from..... as far as I know, Microsoft cannot view the contents of your hard drive. That is a major violation of privacy. Plus I doubt they have the time to view the contents of everyone's hard drive....

If XP is working fine, don't bother upgrading. Vista is nothing more than eye candy, it's still having major issues with a lot of programs and hardware.

i does not advise upgrading to vista. human beings have been downgrading to XP because of the fact of ways sluggish it somewhat is. it even examined fastes on an Aplle Mac laptop(it sucks for desktops). yet once you do, it somewhat is expensive and could decelerate the laptop. some desktops purely improve to vista and delete XP. so there'll in straightforward terms be vista, yet i do advise sticking with XP(perhaps improve to an more desirable Xp

I recommend sticking with XP for now. Vista is still buggy and you basically need a supercomputer to run it well.

NOPE. Based on my research, I would advise waiting until you need a new computer and buy it with Vista installed. Everyone is saying how Vista has killed their computers because they aren't adequate.

XP is solid and stable. Rejoice.....
