I'm getting a new laptop and I'm wondering what are the main differences between XP and Vista? How well does Vista work today? What programs dont run on vista? What programs do? What are some of the bugs in it right now? Any problems I will face??

Please help me out, thank you!!

Windows XP is alot better for now. If you get vista you probably will have to buy separate programs to use with it. There are many things that need to be worked out on vista so wait a few years and then it would probalbly be safer. Trust me I know.

Frankly, I'd postpone getting the new laptop for about 4-6 months. Vista is going to be the new OS, so choosing XP is just burying your head in the sand. XP will reach a point where Microsoft will no longer support it.

However, it has many problems right now, and until they get sorted out and fixed, I just would wait. Be advised that you can't just get a low-end computer with Vista on it. Vista is a resource hog and from the reports I've read, it is slower than Christmas unless you run 2Gb RAM.

Save up some extra money and buy in 4-6 months.

Good Luck

you want to have a windows xp operating system. vista is new and many things will not work with it. vista is sharper looking but it really isn't faster than the xp it isn't worth it. get xp.
