I believe it means that it is time for a change, or a change has just taken place, in your life and today is the first day of this change being part of the rest of your life.
My heart doesn't interpret things, my mind does.

How is today the first day of my life? Well....I am not starting my day very well and I need to get over being upset. I was penalized last night and now down -57 and counting, some friends were removed. It was my first raid and the last, it is not a good morning .... I wonder if this is the first time the bran questions were so badly received...

So true, especially today, Monday, first day of the rest of the working week!
Live life to the fullest (already been said) - starting NOW.
And like my mom always says "You never know what can happen tomorrow".

You have from now until you die in which to live, and that the 24 hour period you are in is the first one in that period, which is a condition which is always invariably true. It does not necessarily mean that I should forget about the past, but it also means that if something bad in the past has happened I can forget about it, start again from today, and live the rest of my life.

Today, you have seen the light. Tomorrow, you will see the light. The day after that, you will see the light. The Holy Spirit will be with you from now on. You are no longer in that dead life of sin and rules. Now, you are FREE!

Very true.
We all have only a limited amount of life, and it is very important that we don't waste it. Some people have been led to believe that Life is never ending, and that it goes on for eternity after they die. This causes them to waste their lives, trying to indoctrinate others, rather than tangibly, making their lives better and really adding to society and helping the future generations of mankind. It is sad.

It means that if you have made mistakes in the past, it doesn't have to set a pattern for you. You start over again and go from there- each day can be a fresh start until you get it right. My mother was a p.k.- she loved this phrase.

That is a positive saying. If only I could actually follow the spirit of it. It means let go of the past and being anew.
