I have windows vista and am using mozilla firefox. Is Safari 3 Public Beta really faster than firefox and is it worth downloading.

First of all, I'm using Safari Version 3.0.2 on Windows Vista Home Premium.
While technically Safari is "faster" than Firefox 2, in real-world usage the difference in speeds is almost negligible. I do find that Safari's interface is well-designed and efficient, but the biggest drawback to Safari is that it has significant compatibility and rendering problems on many popular sites---Yahoo! Mail being one of them.
Overall, I use Safari for general web browsing, but I have to switch back to Firefox 2 for checking email. If Apple eventually fixes the rendering issues, Safari will be my browser of choice.
In any case, I recommend you download it and see for yourself.

Depends whether you are using a Mac or Windows computer. Safari 3 is no longer beta, and works fine and fast on most sites. Firefox is safer and easier to use than IE. I can't figure out why anyone would use that. Opera is a good alternative.

yes it is faster than any other browser - check safari benchmark tests. however, I have tried it on windows and it sucks and is buggy. on a mac it is fine but it screws up ichat with chax installed. Since you have vista I would stick with firefox till the full version is released.

seems quick to me. I'm using it. I like firefox too.
if you don't like you can always delete it.
