I came down with an ultra severe sore throat and couldn't eat anything for three full days. I was dehydrated, so I'm already drinking water all day long. I was able to eat some oatmeal this morning...I just wondered if anyone out there has been through something similar? I lost 10-12 pounds in that time period.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THOSE POSTED ABOVE! Eating greasy unhealthy foods after fasting can be very traumatic for your digestive system. You may end up making yourself feel worse. The healthy way to gain weight back after such a quick weight loss is to increase the high-calorie, high-protein foods you eat.. but not necessarily the high-fat ones. Some examples of healthy high-calorie/protein foods are:
nuts/peanut butter
fruit juices
fresh fruit (especially bananas)
yogurt
some cereals
avacados
also try protein shakes- soy protein good too

Also, the next time you have an illness severe enough where you lose 10-12lbs in three days.. PLEASE see a doctor, weight loss like that takes puts strain many parts of your body- including your heart!

popsicles are great for this, if your throat is still tender, this may also help sooth it, the sugar in the popsicles might put the weight back on, also best to get the ones made with real fruit juices as you will also get some nutritional benifits from them, also like someone mentioned before ice cream may do the job as well, while providing some protien and calcium, if you can hanlde pastry, anything with a dense mass to it, but you should really go back to eating as normal, the weight should stabalize over time, you should focus more on replenishing the nutrients you lost during this time

Yes, I have gone through something like that.

Oatmeal is good. Apple sauce will be easy on your throat and stomach, as will puddings- if you like that sort of thing. For me, if my appetite needs to be kick-started, pineapple is good. I don't know if it will work for you or not.

You could also try watermelon and cantaloupe, if you can get it where you live. Both have nutrition and moisture. Once your stomach is used to food again, add fish and chicken. And then go back to your regular meals, and add snacks such as bananas and so on.

Good luck, and feel better!

The key here is to eat a lot of food. Period. If you want to gain weight you just have to eat a lot of callories, but i would reccomend eating a lot of clean ones, with a lot of chicken breast, steaks, turkey, eggs, veggies and just a ton of them. If the only goal is to put on wieght and it doesnt matter what kind it is (i.e you want to put some fat on) then you can go ahead and have McDs and other fast foods, but they wont make you feel , or look as good as if you eat nice and clean
