When I download them I put them in My Documents. The font will show up as a folder with a zipper on it. Right click the folder and click "Extract All". Click Next, Next, and Finish.
Then the another folder with the font name will show up without a zipper. Open that folder. Then there should be an icon with two T's on it that stands for True Type.
Go to Control Panel and open Fonts.
Copy and paste or drag the True Type (TT) file into the fonts folder.
Open up word and you should be able to use the font. =)

Copy the file, the go to your local drive. There will be a folder called 'Windows' or 'WINNT' or something similar. Inside that folder there will be a 'Fonts' folder. Paste your downloaded font into that folder.
If you already have Word open, close it and restart it. the font should show up as an option.

Once you have the fonts downloaded and unzipped (if necessary) then just copy and paste them into the fonts folder. You will find that folder here: My Computer/"C"/Windows/Fonts. All programs share fonts from this folder.

You have to install the fonts into your "fonts" folder located in the control panel. Open the fonts folder, choose 'file' then 'install new font.' Locate the font on your pc (wherever you saved it during download) and install. It will then be able to be used in all programs. ☺

If they are zip files, you'll first have to extract them, then go to control panel, select the fonts icon, then go to file, choose "Install new font" then browse to find where you extracted the font files, select the font you wish to install, and it should be fairly straight forward from there!

Once downloaded, place them in your 'Fonts' directory, located at C:\Windows\Fonts. Hey Presto! New fonts.
