I get really nauseous every time I attempt to read in a moving vehicle (car). Whether it's a book, magazine, newspaper or a small piece of writing, I get extremely nauseous that I start to gag. The nauseousness carries on till I down something, like food or a warm drink or else, it carries on the whole time. It gets even worse when I try to lay down or rest my eyes in the car when the feeling occurs. Although sometimes, albeit rare, I can read in the car and not feel nauseous and I still can't figure out what's the cause. I really love reading and it's sad because I can't read while in the car, which is a waste of time, really. So does anyone out there encounter the same problem with me? If yes, anyone knows what's the cause of it? Most importantly, is there a cure to this? Thank you.

It's called car, or motion, sickness. Take Dramamine for it.

i get the same thing. When im riding passenger in the morning, i'll try to read a newspaper for 20-30 seconds and i start to feel nauseous. I dont really know the cause, but I think it's motion/car sickness. You're focusing on something about 2 feet in front of your eyes when everything else around you is moving.

It's called motion sickness. It happens because the words you're reading are stationary but the light from the motion (outside) is still being observed by your eye. This rarely happens in the night as it's harder for light from motion to be observed. You can try taking breaks and looking at the horizon to reorient yourself. It usually shouldn't get worse when you close your eyes, unless you're thinking about it. Dramamine is a good over the counter medication. I've also heard drinking ginger tea or sucking on crystallized ginger helps.

I have the same problem all my life. It's motion sickness. Unless you seeing what's ahead you will get nauseous. There's a simple cure........take motion .sickness pills before you go on a trip. There are several diffrent brands on the market. I take the one that you only have to take one every 24 hours. I keep them in our van. We have a TV in the back and I cant even watch Tv with out the pills. Hope this helps

It is motion sickness and you can take "Gravol" (drug) for it to help. It is same as sea sickness. It generally stems from what they refer to as "inner ear imbalance". I experience the same thing, I cannot even ride in a back seat of a car, can't read for 30 seconds in a car or I'm toast. It is also somehow linked into a person's personality which I discovered when I attended a seminar called "whole brain seminar". This problem showed up in certain brain types. Cheers!

What makes you nauseous everytime you read in the car is motion sickness. When your riding in the car and not looking out the window [like when your reading] your body knows feels its moving but you yourself are not doing any thing to make yourself move, your inner ear contains fluid that helps you ballance, this fluid gets outtawhack when you are in the car and it makes you fel sick like when your dizzy. some people are just more prone to this. one thing that will help you feel better is looking out the front window of the car because then you can see that you are moving and feel it . looking out the side window will just make worse. Im sorry that this happens to you, but carrides can still be fun without reading!

You are experiencing motion sickness. It is pretty common, especially on boats. Sipping on ginger ale or eating ginger candy sometimes helps. If you are going to travel a long distance get a motion sickness medicine off the Shelf at your local drug store. The pharmacist will help you choose one. Also, riding in the front seat of the car seems to help some.

i'm getting the comparable factor. whilst im driving passenger in the morning, i will attempt to envision a newspaper for 20-30 seconds and that i start to sense nauseous. I dont extremely understand the reason, yet i think of it incredibly is action/vehicle ailment. you're specializing in something approximately 2 feet in front of your eyes whilst each little thing else around you is shifting.

the problem arises because when you look at a stationary object like a book while you are moving, you confuse your brain. It knows your body is moving, but your eyes seem to say you are stationary so the brain becomes confused and you get nauseated. This happens to a great many people and is simply a form of motion sickness. Most times, people learn that they cannot read while moving....have you considered books on tape?

you are a victim of motion sickness. If you do not want to take any drugs for it try lifting you book or whatever you are reading up and keeping the Windows down. It helps me out.
