I live in the NYC area (Manhattan) and I'm looking 4 a Lab, Pit Bull, or Rocweiler

Labs are very rambunctious, and need lots of space. They are also prone to chewing on things such as shoes, furniture, etc.

Pit Bulls are basically good dogs, but have a bad reputation. They have enough strength in their jaws to snap a bone in half.

Rottweilers are good dogs, but also need lots of room.

All three breeds are good guard dogs, but living in Manhattan, where space is limited, you may want to consider a smaller breed.

Check your local animal shelter. And please have your pet spayed or neutered. This not only prevents unwanted puppies, it is also better for the health of the animal.

ASPCA -

Why do you want a large dog in a Manhattan apartment?

To Ocean of Notion - I'll agree to not dock, declaw and crop - but not to spay and neuter is plain stupid. Aside from the obvious unwanted puppy problems there are a number of common illnesses that spaying and neutering can prevent, giving a dog a better, longer and healthier life.

Please keep this in mind. All living things are to be revered. Please don’t neuter, spay, tail dock or declaw your dog. Mutilating another living thing for YOUR convenience is WRONG. You should rather not have any pets than keep a pet mutilated to suit you and make you love it. Let the living things live their natural life. If in their natural life they are to fall sick and have a lot of pain and suffering, it is okay. It is their life. But if an animal is to have a happy life, but not its life, but a life as planned and distorted as per your whims and fancy, it is wrong. I hope you understand.
