Flowers or some other token would be very nice but a card will do the trick. You just say what you feel about what they did. You say thank you, you say how happy you were with the party, you say how it cheered you up and you say how now that you have such good friends here you will not be homesick because they made you feel like this is home. Stuff like that and remember to thank God for sending you such friends and acquaintances in you new home.

It depends on you I suppose. Some ppl consider a warm and genuine "thank you" and shared feelings of what about it was so great for you as satisfactory and some ppl like to do that and add a simple "thank you" card. Thank you gifts are kind of strange, I think. You don't give a gift when you're saying thank you for a gift they gave you... a thank you card, maybe. Something like a pretty flower may suffice if you really want to. Those say "thank you" well.

Give them a thank you card expressing how good it made you feel that they were such good friends that they would go out of their way to do this for you, or invite them over for a special night ( Dinner or movies etc.. ) and tell them you are doing this get together to thank them and let them know how much you appreciate their friendship, or do both.

I've been in the same situation and I would just let them know how much it ment to you. "Thank you so much for thowing me a party, it really ment a lot to me, expecially being so far from home'. As for a gift, I don't really think it's neccesary. If they are your friends then it seems more like you are trying to buy thier friendship. Again let them know how much it ment to you...and enjoy your new found friends!

In a card tell them how much you appreciated their thoughtfulness and how it made an other wise depressing time and joy and delight for you. Then when you have a few bucks so spare by a big pizza or something for you all to share and thank them again.

I would take them to dinner. Then over dinner, you can tell them how you were feeling depressed because you were away from your old friends, and how they made you feel like you belonged there. You could even end with a toast saying something like, "To new friends!"

A nice thank you card. Or you can buy them a couple of drinks next time you're out. That was really very nice of them.
