Ph.D, of course! A GED is just a high school equivalency. A Ph.D is a doctoral degree. You're talking about a difference between zero and 8-12 years of schooling, and an average of about $30,000+ a year difference in salary.

A PhD is a doctorate of philosophy. It is the final degree for most areas of study and it takes about eight years of college to earn this degree. Halfway through, the student gets a BA or a BS which is the more common college degree. In between these two degrees, is the masters degree.

A GED is like a high school diploma, but often carries a little less weight because the student was not able to remain in school and get the typical diploma.

When it comes to which is better, it depends on the circumstances. If you are just talking with people, it would be far better to be able to state that you have a PhD. If you are raising a family, it is better to have a PhD. However, for a high school drop-out looking for approval from his parents, the GED may mean a lot more.

wow this is an easy question. obviously a PhD, unless you're talking about which is better from a time perspective. a PhD takes a long time to earn but is well worth it in the end. a GED is almost like graduating high school... depends on if you want to be a bio-chemist or a burger flipper.

I'm not sure what a GED is (is it an American thing?) but a PhD is one of the top qualifications you can get - you normally have to study years for it. It's really useful in academic jobs but not in others. It just depends on the job you apply for really.
