This is such a good verse. It really sums it all up. If more of us would just trust and not assume or go off with half the information we would save ourselves so much hardship. But, most of all it is a great encourager when hardtimes comes to know we can trust in the Lord even if we don't understand why.

I think that that scripture when put into practice puts any individual to the ultimate test.

Most people of the western world, USA, Canada, Europe, are so fat with capital security that it is funny for some of us not so well endowed when they talk about living a simpler life.

How simple can it get? Living in a mud hut, no stove and barely eating as some Africans do, and others too. The westerner's concept of simplicity have never encountered the word in its real application.

Your understanding comes from your brain, which conveys you messages of your mind too. The origin of your thoughts is the higher mind, The Universal Mind, or say God`s mind, and mind is more important than a persons brain, and Mind used the channel of heart to convey to you the messages of the higher mind, therefore our heart never lies, therefor having faith and trust with your heart(mental heart is rewarding always. It is not the logical thinking of our concious brain, but very subtle working of our subconsious mind , which is the whole material scattered in the whole world. Therefore having faith and trust and listening the dictates of our heart , and working accordingly is a positive way of working our understandings.

I love it. I know exactly what it means. Go by God, and not your own brain that likes to trick you all too much, and make up junk, and listens to demons tricking you. Your brain doesn't like the truth, because it likes to do what it wants to do. Steal, lie, sleep around, etc etc. Whatever makes it feel good.

And what a blessing it is for God to be able to talk to us, this might scare some non believers, but God does talk to you, and the closer you get to Him, the more He talks. Pretty well known fact from all practicing Christians. Trust in the Lord, and trust in his promises. Because he never goes back on his promises. He wants you to trust in him. And oh boy do I. Man I love Him more then words can explain.

With love through Christ Jesus,

Dusty

My heart says that only by studying Gods word are you given some sort of understanding to the purpose ... don't think you have all the answers and quite often what you do understand by being raised up in this world, you find to be a big nothingness, and meaningless... wasted time. It is until you understand Gods purpose for your life that you begin to have some understanding.... etc...

That is what my heart says

It means to trust in God as one who is a higher being with greater understanding than we could possibly have and with our best interests at heart.

While our own understanding is at best faulty. We tend to rely on our own thoughts like some of the other answers rather than someone who actually knows what they are talking about.

"Confide in the Lord with all that is on your mind." Confide with Father like you would with your closest friend. Don't rely on your own discernment until after you have laid it before the Lord. Test your trials with the Word to see what instructions the Lord has for you. Then ask God for direction and discernment over the matter.
