No. It has nothing to do with His self esteem.

Our Creator has, in essence, proposed a supernatural fellowship between Him and his creation (us). It is a relationship that must be founded on truth. He is God, we are not God. Just as children must respect the parents if there is to be the proper child/parent relationship, we must respect God. Ought parents to allow their children to call them nasty names?

If we truly want that relationship/fellowship with our Creator, we have to first hold as true that He exits. Doesn't that make sense? That holding to His existence is what we call belief.

These are not petty sins because they undermine the entire purpose for which we were created, i.e. to be united with our Creator.

who is the one that says the petty sins are what is the matter here. Who says to follow the order without sins to be in g-d's good graces? MAN!!!! not g-d. G-d loves everybody and everything. Remember where the NT comes from with all these sins? Who wrote it?g-d? MAN wrote it. Look back at the actual history and time period of where it all came from.and you will know the truth

If you had/have a child, does it matter to you if he listens to you, or do you just let him do whatever he feels like? Would it bother you if he stayed out late and lied about what he was doing? How about if he disrespects by cursing at you? Would this cause you low self-esteem?

Of course not. This isn't about that. This is about God loving us and keeping us safe and in His care. It's about us loving Him, showing Him respect and wanting to please Him. If you love God, you'll want to follow His will.

Mark 12:29-31 -- 29"The most important commandment," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

Because the collective effect of all those "petty" sins is one hell of a lot of human misery and trouble.

Because He loves us.

When you take His name in vain, or don't believe in Him, you are not hurting the Creator, but yourself.
