Lock the excel file.?

Can somebody teach me how to lock the excel file by password so that only myself can open it. Thanks a lot.

1. Open the file you want to protect. 2. On the menu bar, click File. 3. From the drop-down, click Save As.. 4. Click the Tools button (which you'll find near top right of the Save As dialogue box). 5. From the drop-down click General Options. 6. You will now get a dialogue box for entering your Password needed to open the file. You can also enter a Password necessary for modifying the file. Hope this helps.

To lock the file so that only you can open it:

- With the file open, do File-Save As
- Pick Tools at the top right of the Save As dialog box
- Pick General Options
- Put in a Password to open

Tools - Protect Sheet.

The window which comes up will allow you to state which items are 'protected'.

Set a password and write it down! (Excel files cannot be cracked once they are protected.)

Before you close the file, click SAVE so that the changes are saved along with the password.

1- Open Excel Sheet.
2- Finish all the changes you want to do in the sheet.
3- Go to tools in the main menu (make sure u expand it if not already expanded)
4- click "Protection"
5- click "Protect Sheet"
6- Make sure the check box in the top of the popup window is checked.
7- uncheck all other check boxes
8- Type in the password you want
9- Retype the password
10- Submit
11- WALLAH ur done

I.e. follow the same steps to unlock it ;)

click file -> save as

there is a option says required password

if it is not here click tools options and go to gernel and select password there then save as
