At 49 I’m new to being a bachelor again. Sorry for this silly question,
Can I make Mac and cheese that requires milk with evaporated milk? Also can I use evaporated milk on rice crispes?
Thank-you in advance,
Brian S.

Yes, you can use it to make mac & chz. The canned evap milk is double-strength, so use half water, and half evap milk to get "regular" strength milk.

You COULD use it on yoru cereal, but ugh, it wold taste awful. Jsut buy yourself a quart of milk!

Evap milk is best cooked or baked with, not drunk.

Evaporated milk is just milk that has been reduced by half using...evaporation. Take one can of evaporated milk and pour it into a large container like a pitcher. Fill the can with water and then add that to the pitcher. Give it a stir. Now you can use this just like milk. Of course, it won't be cold, so if you are using on rice crispies you'll want to refrigerate it. Alternately, when you reconstituted it, you could have added the equivalent of a can of water and ice, and then stirred the milk/water mixture till the ice was melted.
Now, if you’re staring at that can of evaporated milk and wondering if anything bad will happen if you DON’T mix water in and just use it straight, the answer is go for it! It’ll have a richer taste but you’ll live. I often use evaporated milk as a replacement for cream in coffee.

Yes you can make Mac & Cheese with evaporated milk, you can make it with water, too. As for using it on Rice Krispies, dilute with water until you like the taste and then pour on your cereal. Enjoy!

Evaporated milk is great for cooking. If you are watching your weight I would drink 1% milk. It has lower fat and unlike skim milk it still has a taste.
