He or she is not totally discredited? Why do they go on to make other predictions which are equally faulty? Even worse, why do people still follow them when they've been wrong once. I know there is something psychological at work, but frankly, it baffles me.

Edgar Whisenant wrote a book called "88 reasons why the rapture will be in 1988" When '88 came and went and no rapture, he went on to write 'rapture reports' for 1989-1995, his faith apparently unshaken. Crazy people.

I agree with you. I can't understand it either. There was a false prophet in our area in the 70's who predicted that the world would come to an end when the comet Kahotek passed by. He said it would collide with earth and that would be the end. I knew some people who were his followers. One friend of mine did end up coming to her senses and leaving his cult and when I asked her that question, why did you all still follow him when his prediction didn't come true she said that he told them he was just testing them. Can you believe it?

According to the Bible, which says that 'No man knows the hour' when Jesus will return, he couldn't possibly know no matter how much he thought he did. So yes, I would discredit him on the basis that he does not follow God's word. It is important for a pastor of any denomination to not stray from what the Bible teaches. I wouldn't give you two cents for him and would check behind him on every lesson to make sure it was scripturally accurate.

People get duped when they don't study the Bible. For that matter, modern Christians don't need to make end time prophecies because they have already been made and are already in the Bible...so I would spend my energy reading it as opposed to listening to some preacher tell me about it.

If you can tell 'em a story, you can take their money!
I guess they've been warning about the end times since 100 A.D. or even before.
It's really sad how easily people check their brains at the door when they enter a fanatical church.

Someone once said you can fool the people with a big lie. I don't know if they do it for profit or what, but I think it fulfills a need in some people to know what is going to happen.

Interesting point. My friend knows allot on this 2012 stuff. I don't believe him, but what he knows is impressive. The Bible Code impressed me the most.

Because miraculously at the zero hour, the Lord changed his mind. We can't discredit them when the Lord makes a last minute judgment

Have you read the bible. Read and read it again until you will come to understand it so you may know what you are telling.
