How many times have I heard christianstry to compare the faults of atheists and other non-christians with the faults of christians?
As if atheists et al worship one god, or get their truths out of one book.
I suppose if you adopt a faith that says only ONE truth gets to heaven, you assume everyone else believes in ONE lie.
Does it never dawn on you that because atheists et al never adopted a code that says there can be only ONE truth, they are free to believe in many different things, and still be true to their belief that christianity is dead-wrong?
Does it not occur to you how comical you look, each elbowing each other and sticking each other in the eye over whose One truth is THE ONE truth, all the while yeslling at us to believe -your- ONE truth is THE ONE truth?
You cannot even agree amongst yourselves, except for the ONE truth that there can only be ONE truth (yours, not anyone else's, not even christians who disagree with you).
You can't see it, can you?

I'm not an atheist but I admire your tenacity- you don't think they really consider, weigh and reason out any of these valid points though, do you?

Any and every person is free to believe whatever they want. Believing something does not however make it true. Truth simply is what IS regardless of whether it is believed or proven so the challenge then is in discovering what is true and communicating in a common language. For example, when you use the word 'faith' you seem to mean 'belief' but my definition is 'the creative act of bringing something into existance". In this sense, the word belief takes on a different light; one can not create something unless you first "believe" that it can be done. If the Wright brothers did not first Believe that they could build an aircraft then why would they have ever tried? In fact, many ridiculed them in their belief that it could be done yet they did it anyway, in spite of the ridicule.
The confusion then that arises from having different meanings for words and concepts stands in the way of open and honest communication. Some people purposefully redefine words in order to cause such confusion. So many people do this that it appears to some that it is a concerted effort to cause confusion and division.
As far as this applies to Christians, we find the basic truths of Love, against which there can be no Law, are profoundly true on every level.
Christ defines his own followers in his teachings. I am not sure how you discern who the followers of Christ are. One can no more be a Christian and not do as Christ taught than one can be an atheist and believe in God. I have met many folks who say they are Christians and not only do they Not follow Christ's teaching but purposely do the opposite in order to cause confusion with the intent to discredit Christ and his followers so that others can use associations to bring all sorts of false accusations.
If you believe then that Christianity is "dead-wrong" then what does that mean? Are you refuting the teachings of Christ or just pointing out the inconsistancies of those who call themselves Christian without differenciating between those who actually keep the teachings of Christ? Do you believe that we should Not forgive others their tresspasses? Or that we shouldn't give to the poor or help those in need? Perhaps you believe that all those teachings about Love and Peace are just a "lie".
Surely you are not so naive to believe that everyone who calls themself a Christian actually is a Christian.

Nicely put and this, unfortunately explains the plight of all major religions. You do not even need to undertake a study for this, just spend time here on Y/A.

Thank you for bringing this subject out into the light.
I can see it. And it's heart-wrenching.
I suppose the main theory behind non-Christians being "unionized" is that in a matter of speaking they are "unified" in the disbelief of Christ as Son of God, Savior. The reasons, though, are much varied as to why and the scope of what believed is wide and diverse.
I agree that it is contradictory to profess ONE truth when the primary focus seems to be individualizing our Christ vs. unifying ourselves to His person and His teaching.
Remember - Christ is the only One to truly lead a "Christian" life...His followers you will know by their love.

Generalisations are always a bad way to start a conversation.
Not all Christians think they have the whole 'truth' thing sorted. Some people who believe in Jesus and God are actually quite open to hearing other people's points of view and letting other people find their own truth. We are not all hellfire and brimstone types you know! Some of us are quite sane and pleasant people. Chill a little.

I agree with Dustin... Not all Christians do that. Atleast, I don't. I have many friends that don't believe in god... or not the god I believe in, or none at all. I don't look at them any different than I look at the person sitting next to me in church. I believe that Jesus will forgive you (and all other Atheists), but I definately don't look down on you for having thoughts that differ from mine... unlike you

Atheist why do you continually find fault with Christians and attack us? I do not care if you are
atheist. You have made your choice and I accept that.
You are correct to assume that I think you are living a lie. I know God exists and I would not want to be standing in your shoes when you find that out.
Does it occur to you that you are the one that looks comical to 80% of America?
Atheists all agree in what they believe. All Americans know you do not believe in God. We know what you believe but you still you to come in this thread to harass Christians with you silly questions?
You are the one who is blinded.

That makes us a force to be reckoned with doesn't it?LOL Accolades to you. Division is rife among the religious. If everyone would quit trying to be right and just be for a while what a difference that would make. I still say religion was made as a tool to keep control over mankind.

Good job stereotyping Christians, about Stereotyping.
Because we all don't have brains of our own right?
God is real. It's your God given choice to accept or reject him.
Just make sure you made the right choice though, your eternal fate is at hand. You're not guaranteed tomorrow, so it would be a good idea to look into things asap. Have you ever asked Jesus if he is real? You know, all you have to do is call on him, it's not some hard task. It's extremely easy, salvation is also easy. It's a free gift, and all you have to do is ask him for it. It's that simple.
Remember, this isn't about anyone else, but you, and your decision. It's up to you, and you only. And whatever choice you make, you have to accept whatever comes with that choice. If you don't believe in God, thats your choice. But that doesn't make him poof. Believe me lol. Just ask Jesus if he is real. You can do it in your bedroom all by yourself.
With love through Christ Jesus,
Dusty

ok. what is it called when one makes up a situation and then proceeds to debate it, as if it were a true argument?
"A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To "set up a straw man" or "set up a straw-man argument" is to create a position that is easy to refute, then attribute that position to the opponent. A straw-man argument can be a successful rhetorical technique (that is, it may succeed in persuading people) but it is in fact a misleading fallacy, because the opponent's actual argument has not been refuted."
nice try, santa. troll looks good on you...
