There was a question was posted yesterday, a Christian seemed concerned that non believers wished to harm them. Is this a common belief?

Considering that Agnostics and Atheists have never started a religious war, never killed anyone for not believing in a certain sect, it seems to me that it's the religious folks you need to be worried about.

From the tone of some Q and A's it seems that some Christians believe this.
I suppose "harm" could be interpretted by them as questioning their beliefs.
In which case a lot more harm is done to atheists/agnostics by uninvited evangelists.
As far as inflicting physical harm; that is the domain of the religious, not the atheists/agnostics, as you rightly point out.

I certainly hope not! I have heard of pastors or ministers telling congregations if they elect godless politicians they will ban the bible or other nonsense. I don't know if that is true or not.

For the record I am not religious but I believe in the right to your own beliefs and the practice thereof so long as you aren't impinging on other's rights and freedoms or forcing them onto others. I just object to religious people impinging in my own and other's rights to live as they wish. I have no desire to harm anyone and yearn for a peaceful world. It concerns me when I see religion bringing so much disharmony and strife.

After 6 and a half years of G.W. Bush, numerous years of Christians trying to convert us and legislate their morality, of Muslims threatening us from a far and Jews trying to drag us into this tribal war they've got going on- on behalf of emotionally exhausted atheists, agnostics, and infidels of all stripes, I'd like to say that some of us are finally getting around to considering war as a viable option.

All the best,

Lazarus

Sadly yes, but totally unfounded. When you think the devil is around every corner waiting to get you with his demons you have a spirit of irrational fear. You are a threat to them just being alive and on this planet. Fear creates hate because fear is an unnatural condition. Hate and fear become synonymous and you have a self perpetuating condition. It's a type of paranoia that takes over. I'm not speaking for all, but I am speaking from experience. No one wishes them harm based on their religious preference. Everyone else just wishes they would leave them alone and not preach to them. They bring fear on themselves by preaching to "sinners" who don't want to hear it.

I'm not christian or anything for that matter as I don't believe in religion but I just wanted to say that I agree with you about the Agnostics and Atheists not starting any wars or killing people for not believing what they do

because of the fact it can not ever incredibly be shown or perhaps examined. It remains a powerful theory, even however this is too great based to be very scientific in toto. broken up into biology, chemistry, zoology, archeology, and so on. it turns into extra attainable. this is in basic terms a terrific quantity of technology to lump into one theory. As a unifying hypothesis this is useful, even yet it has a tendency to be philosophical as much as scientific. that would desire to describe why it is so zealously believed.

I think some people may feel that way... but not most. I go to a Methodist church every week and have many friends that do not believe in my god. It's just like anything else I may believe in that they don't. It isn't like when we were kids anymore though... you don't believe in Santa? Well, don't expect any presents then... lol

No, it is not a common belief. I've met very few, if any, Christians who feel that way.

I'm not going to comment on the last part of your question.

It is a common belief. Indoctrination teaches that those that are non-believers, Are sided with Satan. And Satan represents all that is wrong with humanity.
