Often when we were driving home in the wee hours on the Belt Parkway, the sight of the sun coming up near the Verrazano Bridge, was so beautiful that we'd pull over, sit on a bench and just watch.

East River shore Manhattan is good. There is a park at 35th street (That's where my avatar picture was taken at sunrise), also there is a path and a few other parks along the shore.

More than one late Saturday night of partying ended up with somebody getting the great idea to go out to Montauk Pt to watch the sun pop out of the ocean. Then we'd all cruise over to the Southampton Diner for breakfast.

sunrise on montauk point..it was just gorgeous, sitting by where the lighthouse was. and it was april and we were the only ones, it was a great way to get out of the city once in awhile.
but of course i cant go to montauk all the time
so i catch most of my sunsets and sunrises by belt parkway in brooklyn where the verrazano bridge is (walking distance from my house and its good exercise to walk LOL)
