Stray tom cats have been breaking into the house via my cats catflap and scent marking, although I have been spraying with a pet deodoriser I find its not totally working and it seems to especialy linger in the wooden floor and skirting. Anyone got a really effective way of removing these foul odours, as it not only smells it also upsets my female cat who has started peeing in the hallway.

Yes my cat is spayed she is also immunised and has regular flea and worming treatments. We have a magnetic catflap, but a couple of the strays have figured out that if they headbut the flap hard enough it gives way.

Try Febreeze pet odor eliminator. It works when my cat decides to mark her territory. That is what your female is doing too. leaving her calling card to answer the stray cat's calling card. You may want to get a cat door with a electronic device attached to your cat's collar. It would make it to where she can only open it. I have added a link to it on Know your source.

Tom Cats Spraying

Nature's Miracle is a good product. For cat urine, what they are spraying, you need a special enzyme cleaner, and Nature's Miracle is one of the best. You may also want to add Feliway Diffusers throughout your house away from food or litter box to calm your cat down. Be sure to treat all the urine with Nature's Miracle by using a black light to show where it may be on the walls, floor, or other objects.

There are also cat flaps that will only open for your cat using a special collar. You can find them at Petsmart. You will want the sensor to be on a Safe Cat collar though, one that will break open if you cat would become tangled.

You may want to turn your cat into an indoor only cat. Indoor cats live longer, and you won't have the issue of stray cats entering your home via the cat flap because you won't need one. Regardless, you should have your cat on a good medication such as Revolution to prevent heartworms, fleas, and other nasties.

Febreeze or vingar really won't do much to stop the problem. It may mask it for a little, but you need to break down the enzymes. Just because you can't smell it doesn't mean your cat can't smell it. If your cat can smell it, it will continue to urinate out of the box in an effort to mark the territory or because it seems ok.

Why not close the flap for a few days so the cats can't make an entrance and may decide not to come back . As in another post . spray citrus (orange) near the area or try Fabreeze. If the urine has soaked into the wooden flooring there is not much that you can due. Pouring and enzyme on it(it must be kept wet for quite a while) will warp the flooring. You may have to replace that part of the floor and the base boards.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

2 Steps to Cure Pet Urine Odors....
- 1 - Neutralize the odor! - Use a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar, spray on the area w/spray bottle and let it dry, the vinegar neutralizes the urine smell.
- 2 - Kill the bacteria! Now clean the area with with a water, liquid soap and a small amount ( suggest 3% of total solution) of hydrogen peroxide. Scrub the area with solution, allow it to dry and vaccum the residue.
You need to kill the bacteria in the urine, because as the urine breaks down the smell intesifies. It also deters your cat from returning to the site and reoffending!
I would consider closing the cat door until you resolve the scent problem, it just attracts more cats.
The vinegar smell will fade but if you like spray some air freshener to cover the smell. Good Luck!! >^^<

Clean the areas with an enzymatic cleaner such as OUT!. They work by actually breaking down the cause of the stains and odors. It can be mixed with water and used in carpet cleaning machines as well. You have to leave the cleaner wet on the areas so the enzymes can do their thing. It is usually pretty effective. good luck. You may want to get some traps, the humane kind, and capture the toms then contact your local animal control.

The best and cheapest way is to saturate the marked areas with white vinegar. It neutralizes the smell.

Also perhaps lock the cat flap so they can't get in. Is your cat spayed? if not, then perhaps you should do that as well.

You need to get a product called OUT! you can find it in Wal-marts in the Pet Isle. It has an enzyme in it to get rid of the smell. I would also get a collar and a sensor for the cat door so only your cat can get in and out of the house with out the intruder cats following.
