Only when all the trees have been cut down, when all the animals have been hunted, when all the waters are polluted, when all the air is unsafe to breathe, only then will you discover you cannot eat money.
How much do you think this ancient American Indian prophecy applies to our lives today?

100% applicable.
With the world's population increasing, the length of people's lives increasing, the western world's greed increasing, while all the time resources are nearing depletion ... this statement has never been more true.
What it doesnt add though ... Is that if you have enough money, you will be able to afford to live forever, while the rest of us die waiting for the drugs.

It can not be all that ancient of an indian who said it.
The concept of air pollution would have been incompehensible to anybody older than about 120 years ago for one thing. The style and terms are modern as well.
Edit: I see Avondrow has the same thought.

Shall I tell you what makes me laugh about that prophecy is the amount of offices that have at least one copy up somewhere. Almost ironic that all these psuedo-enviromentalists use paper to photocopy it and place it by their office desk!
That said it is a very good point, just a shame that no one pays that much attention to it - or certainly, shame the people in charge (eg Prime Ministers, Kinds, Queens, Presidents) don't pay attention to it.

What about chocolate coins? I've eaten them - will I get ill now??
Sorry, seriously, I think that's a great saying, ancient indian or not. If only the people that make the decisions thought so too . . .

Totally spot on. it is so disheartening the way money controls most if not all important decisions in the world. The thought alone of not hearing a bird sing or hearing urban foxes in the night. is frightening much less the animals fighting to hold on to their habitat.

Well in one way it does because its obviously true, in another way it doesnt because it humankind has not managed to acheive all of the tems on the list!
It is in human nature to destroy ourselves, though sadly we seem determined to take out everything else with us.
One little quote from South American Indian (I think you were quoting from North American?) about cocaine.
"Our little gift to the white man, for what he did to us" I love that quote, I wonder what nature has up her sleeve as HER revenge...?
Good question, have a star.

This does NOT apply to California. Under the able leadership of our Governor Arnold, California is one of the most environmentally-friendly places in the entire world!
