I met this guy on the internet about almost 3 years ago. He's a year older than me, hes smart, cute, funny..all those good qualities you look for in a guy. The problem is..he lives out of the country. I am soooo in love with him. I have never loved anyone more. Theres nothing i wouldnt do to be with him, or even talk with him. We talk basically every single day, for hours despite the time zone difference. I truly love him and i cant see my life without him. If i go out on a date with a guy, i feel guilty like im cheating on him. When he chats with other girls online i get jealous. We plan on meeting in a couple of years after we are both done with schooling. Everything is so perfect with him. I smile at the very thought of him. I know he feels the same way, we have talked about this many times. Does this seem like true love? or just an obsession? What should i do? I cant even go out with anyone else without feeling so guilty.

ok, i have been in the EXACT same position for 2 yrs. he was from Baltimore and i'm here in Ireland. long story short, we met a couple of times, i had doubts all along, he was acting suspicious and the outcome?

I hate to say this to you but... you need to get out of that "relationship". He could never live up to expectations if you did meet him. The wonderful life you have created with each other is kind of fairytale like. It is not realistic. If he lived an hour away and the two of you met and liked each other and used the computer to chat then that would be different. This is heading in the wrong direction for you. It will leave you heart broken and sad. You should try and find somone nice in your area to date. I would say you have fallen into an obsession. You don't know for sure who is even on the other end of those loving and caring messages. It could be an old man trying to get you to fall for him then when it comes time to meet he disappears altogether or maybe worse he shows up. Please, move on. Do it for yourself, you will be way better off in the long run. Good luck!!!

You always want what you can't have. That's human nature. And every one needs a fantasy dream, and this is yours. You need to go out and live your life. I don't mean never talk to him, keep being friends if you think you can handle it. But, you have cut yourself off to having any kind of relationship with anyone else. You are young, you need to open yourself up to a lot more than an online relationship with someone you can't have at this moment. If in a few years time you still feel this way then continue on. But don't close yourself off to other people because of something that may never be.

Be careful. People tend to lie because you can't really see them over the Internet. Yeah, I read the web cam part, but you can't beat communicating in the flesh. Body language says much more than an IM. How do you know he's not married w/8 kids? Or an axe murderer? Or he has 6 other Internet girlfriends?
Of course, there's always the chance that he's really the great guy you think he is. Just be careful.

Edit: You probably are. I mean, if you care so much about him, you should be alright with the fact that he has female friends. When my boyfriend talks to his female friends, I don't get angry or jealous. I mean, we all have friends, male and female and just because we're in a relationship doesn't mean we automatically have to break off our friendships with our opposite sexes.
Let's say he is as good looking as you describe him to be. You do know there are women out there who will try to put their claws into him. So my question is: How will you react? If you see a girl staring intently at your man, will you cuss her out or beat her up? If a woman actually have the nerve to go up to him and causally flirt, how will you react? Is he the jealous type? Do you consider yourself to be the jealous type?

well it seems like the both of you re really into each other. hey love happens and it just takes you by surprise.
its not an obsession think you caught the love bug and sorr but theres no cure for it.
just take things easy there is no rush but are you sure that he feels the same way about you?
