I will tell you a short story that came in my mind. I often remember it whenever I read quotes that take me quite a long time to REALLY and DEEPLY understand their meaning.
Once, a tourist happened to visit an Indian village. He wanted to meet the magician of the tribe and talk with him on philosophical grounds. After much negotiations, the magician accepted his visit. And their conversation goes as follows. The tourist asks:
- What is the meaning of life?
- The meaning of life is a tree with no branches, no roots, no fruits.
- Oh!!! I see!! You mean there is no meaning in Life but we are only searching for it just to soothe the Loneliness of Being!! So very wise.
....
The tourist leaves very much impressed and the magician talks to himself:
- So... this is the meaning of life, eh?? At last, I have a good answer to give from now on....
---------------------------------------
God, cannot be religion because religion means freedom. Whenever I think of what they name "God", Law is over my head and I suffocate. Religion, yes, I have one. My own. It frees my mind and heart and makes me wanting to be a better person.

I like this one better,
"When You Earnestly Believe You Can Compensate For A Lack Of Skill By Doubling Your Efforts, There's No End To What You Can't Do."

I prefer the following quote
“Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.”

It seems to be a wise one- anyone seeking after different religions has not time to focus or love God.
IN the bible it says ' one God, One faith, one,Baptism'

I had never heard of him before.
But that quote makes a lot of sense.
I just read a one page biography of him in the Wikipedia.

I think it's an overly clever way of dismissing a person's religious beliefs.
But who are we to say that another person's faith is or is not Godly?
