How much did you ladies spend on your gown? Where was it from and what does it look like?

I ordered my wedding gown from Priscilla of Boston and it cost me $6000. It's A-line and ivory. Custom made to fit me and hand beaded. It was the first dress I tried on but hesitated because of the price tag. After shopping around I had to come back to order it. It's very detailed and absolutely breathtaking. I have a cathedral veil as well as a blusher and thank god that was only $300.

Im not going to yell at you for spending 6,000- dont know why people balk at that, its clear this is The Dress for you! Everyone has different ideas of whats ok for them to spend.
Anyway...mine was just under 1000, Alfred Sung and this is the link:

Well if you can afford it, does it really matter ow much or how little you spend? Probably the best thing to do is stick to your budget but really i think finding the 'right' dress is more important than how much it costs because you can always move money from elsewhere in your budget if needs be. I was very lucky i budgeted £1000 for my dress etc and so far i have spent about £900 and only have shoes to get to complete the look. But if the right dress for me was £1600 before all the veil, jewellery, hoop etc then i would have paid it and taken the money from elsewhere in my wedding budget. At the end of the day it is paramount that you feel comfortable and relaxed and like you look amazing in your dress because otherwise you will be worrying about it rather than enjoying yourself and that will show in all your photos!

My dress was white strapless, A-line and very simple in the front, nothing but a small band just under the bust area that connects around the back. In the back it looks like bow tails without the giant bow on my butt! :-) The train comes out from behind them and has beading and stitching at the bottom. On the whole it's very simple but when it's bustled all you see in the back is the bead work on the "Tails" and beading and stitching on the bottom of the train. My dress, slip, bra, veil shoes, jewelry, tiara, hosiery and alterations cost just under $900. I got everything from David's Bridal. Though, I think my mom expected me to want to spend at least a $1000 on the dress alone. :-)

My dress was only $725, and I had a heart attack over that! My dress is ivory chiffon, beaded across the top and bottom of the bust, empire waits, and it's just gorgoeus...came with a matching purse and scarf...the dress is being altered because it's on open back and I'm not comfortable with that...it will have a full back once the alterations are made...

I thought I was the only person that spent that much on a wedding gown. Im glad to see there there is another bride out there too. I bought a kenneth pool dress that was 5600, my veil and tiara were 1600. However I tried on like 30 dresses and this one was the ONE. The Pictures do not do it justice the back is so detailed and gorgous.

Oh, you mean that dress I wore that ONE time?? Yeah, it cost me $310. First one I tried on too. Most money I've ever spent on an item of clothing, but you know, it WAS my wedding. Got LOTS of compliments, it looked fantastic in the pictures and I don't recall anyone ever asking who the designer was, if it was hand-beaded or real silk or custom made.

Our honeymoon cost a few grand, but was worth every penny, every picture, and every memory. Plus, we BOTH got to enjoy it!!

The important thing is to spend your money where you won't regret later. If your dress and the way you look in it, knowing it was custom made for you is $6300 worth, and you don't have to take out a small loan for it... then I'm happy for you.
CONGRATS!!!

Wow! That's one expensive dress!!

My dress was a Demetrios, A-line dropped waist, Ivory, heavily beaded with a semi-cathedral train - and with the custom cut (it came in hemmed already), and the alterations, the tulling, my shoes, my jewelry AND my veil - I paid $850 for it all!

This was mine, and beleive me, the pics don't do it justice, it was so sparkly and the beading was very intricate, and they custom made it to my lenght for no extra charge, and it came with the bustle already in place, so I didn't have to have that added, I am the ONLY bride I have ever heard of that didnt have to have ANY alterations!

It costed around $550 with tax. I wore my mom's veil, we took it off the hat thing she wore and stitched the veil part onto a comb and it was VERY pretty and special, and free! :)

Mine is a lot cheaper than that lol...mine cost £180 to be made and £30 for material, it's not a traditional wedding gown at all, it is loosely based on this pattern (VERY loosely)

i found an excellent dress maker and she is in the process of making it for me now, the dress is blue silk and very simple, and the underskirt is cream in colour, I can't wait to wear it.

The whole wedding planning is such a scam. My dress was 1200, and I bought another dress for the reception at Barney's. The two combined with shoes I spent under $6,000. After shopping around I did see the prices were insane. I went to Saks, RK Bridal, sample sale and a couple of others. The prices were minimum of 3K and ended not liking anything so I decided to get a custom blush cored dress from Barney's and have a white dress for formalities. Once the word wedding is mentioned they jack the price up another 2-3K.

My dress was the cover dress on Bride's Magazine from 1991 or 1992.

It was a whopping $800 back then, full skirt, full sleeves, lace, hand beaded, imported, etc.

Alot of wedding dresses today remind me of fancy slips (undergarments) and I cringe to think of the money girls spend nowadays.
