I can't give you any other source(s) except my own experience and knowledge on the subject. But I studied astronautics and astronomy when I was younger and found the sun to be an interesting subject.

Are you asking about benefits of spending time in the sun or positive aspects of the sun itself? If you're asking about spending time in the sun, there are few benefits with the exception of Vitamin D. Solar radiation is toxic to the skin as it is bombarded by UVA and UVB radiation. And few sunscreens are effective against UVA radiation. Even a suntan is not a positive aspect about time in the sun because a suntan is the body's reaction to UV radiation. It's a defense mechanism of the skin. I hope this answers your question adequately.

Some studies say that spending time in the sun can reduce your risk of certain cancers.

Also, the most dangerous form of skin cancer can happen in cases where sunlight is clearly not a contributing factor - e.g. on people who spend little time in the sun, and on parts of the body which don't get any sunlight at all. Sorry, I haven't got a source for this, but you could search for it...

Well I live and work in Kuwait, so I know a thing or two about the sun. Basically, the sun is good for you in terms of making you sweat. When you sweat, your body rids itself of any toxins lurking on and just under the skin.

Too much sun, and you risk sunstroke. Here in Kuwait, we tend to drink lots of water. I usually drink about 2 litres a day. If I am out in the desert on an assignment, I might drink a litre within 45 minutes!

Too much skin causes skin cancer.

But for me THE positive thing about the sun is that it brings a joyousness to your day and makes you want to get out of your bed and enjoy the warmth that it brings!
