Long story short - I was car jacked by a black man. The police deparment (all black police officers) refused to help me when I dialed 911. I eventually got the help of another police department, which then directed me to go to the first police deparment to make a report. The first deparment refused to take a report because of my race. When I asked for the badge numbers (to file a formal complaint on the police officers so they would get investigated for wrong doing) of the police officers that refused to render assistance to me in my emergency, they said I was being disorderly (WHICH I WAS NOT) and arrested me and put me in jail. While in jail, I was discriminated against by getting called racial slurs from the police officers as well as other things. WHAT SHOULD I DO? This occured in Illinois.

In jail, they refused to "process" me (taking mugshots, finger prints, etc). The whole process takes 10 minutes, but they sat on their *** for 10 HOURS to "punish me" for being white. My girlfriend had to wait around 10 hours and bail me out with $100 for the $1000 disorderly conduct fine plus I have a court date now. Meanwhile, the black guy that robbed went free - they didn't even go look for him! They also refused to take a report even though it occured in their jurisdiction.

The sargent was white, everybody else was black. I have never done drugs in my life, but the sargent accused me of buying drugs because the area the crime ended in is near some crack houses. He also accused me of being drunk and wanted to breathalizer me - so I told him go ahead - but he didn't bother with the breathalizer.

It is the Harvey Illinois Police Department. Interesting quote I found on wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey,_Illinois

"The Harvey Police Department has come under scrutiny in recent years for misconduct and poor performance in closing murder cases."

I've contacted some lawyers and it turns out that they are already being sued by other people as well for being corrupt.

I sent you an email.
Still waiting for a response so I can answer your question. I'm very familiar with Illinois.

Edit. I would say you're lucky to to have been only car jacked, in regards to the area you described in your email.
In regards to your treatment, I would suggest you contact the State's Attorneys office.

Something similar happened to a lady I know. She was mugged and hit on the head by a black guy. She reported it and the policeman (black) threatened to arrest her, stating she had called the guy a racial slur (she didn't, but the mugger said she did and said that is why he hit her so the police didn't do anything to him).

I would take your case to the media, to the attorney general, you legislator and everywhere else you can think of. You may consider contacting an attorney, but since attorneys rely on the police for certain things, you may have to find one out of the area. Hopefully, you don't live in the area where the police department is. If you do, consider moving!

Okay, if you are for real...
Get a good lawyer... and get the Attorney General involved... if what you said is true, you have a good case, because no one can lie under oath, so they have to concede that you were mistreated. Be sure to indicate that this was probably racially motivated.
And second thing, apply for a concealed weapons permit.

And take the advice of the guy above me, he can definitely help you out.

Take the matter to a higher authority, but respect the chain of command. You say that the police department violated you. Bring it to the attention of the county sheriffs first, then the Illinois state police, then if necessary the federal level.

Report it to the FBI for an investigation. If what you are saying is true, its intolerable. You might also want to contact the press - and ask for an investigation. You should state the name of the place you were arrested on here so others can avoid it like the plague.

I also recommend that contact a whiz-kid of an attorney and file suit in FEDERAL court for the violations of your civil rights. Again, what city was this? We should ALL know.

Be upfront and tell us where (name the PD) this happened. As a matter of fact, name both PDs. I'm not saying your story isn't true but I'm more apt to believe something like this when facts are presented versus generalities. Nobdoy here knows you or those PDs. So come forward with the info. and see where it takes you.

Revised version....

"I went to the hood to buy a couple rocks. I parked my car in a dark alley, found my dealer and smoked one of the rocks in the alley with him. When I got back, my car was gone. I tried to report it to the police but I was so high they took me in. I wonder if I could sue them for more crack money?"

Obvioulsy you have to now take matters into your own hands. Get a gun and find the jerk-off who jacked you and put him out of your misery.

You would be doing society a favor !

"long story short" huh?

I think you have neglected to fill us in on the more important bits (like the nature of the car jacking). I've have people yell car jacking when someone unknown to them tapped on their car windows and ask for a ride.
