Being honest, I was kind of worried, not for myself, but would have been heartbroken for their sake.
My kids have turned out to be beautiful, and saying that, I think that all kids are gorgeous, even the ones that aren't 'picture book' pretty.

Surely ugliness is the least of your worries. I know its cliched but for it to be healthy is so much more important. But onr the topic of ugliness. I think we all know of friends who are/were the 'good looking ones' and they had the most ugly children I have seen and you have to think real hard about how to compliment the child and avoid saying, 'my, doesnt she/he look like you'. But on the other hand you have the ugliest people having the most beautiful child and you think the hospital has mixed up the kids. So, in effect, dont worry bout having ugly kids there are no hard and fast rules and besides there's always make-up and plastic surgery lol

I'm sorry but alot of shallow people answered this question worrying as to wether or not yr unborn will be ugly why dont you take a quick look back at your own newborn baby pics me and my sisters who have nine kids between us spent a good couple of hours down memory lane and if it hadnt been for dates and names on the pics we couldnt even tell which baby pics were are own but was astonished to find our own kids resembled us so if in doubt as to wether a supermodel or not take a peek at yr baby pics then you have a rough idea and its not always apparent until you compare side by side can be a bit of a shock if you always thought you was a bonny baby ha ha

I am expecting my first now and to be honest it has crossed my mind, BUT i know when it comes to it, I won't see that, I will see my child and see it as beautiful, even if other people think its ugly :p. I think it's a natural thing, any parent would only ever see the best in their newborn child after waiting so long for it to come :) xxxx

I am more worried about having a child that is not so smart rather than ugly, I'd rather he/she had brains, talent, street smarts and confidence the courage to use them all and make something of their life.
Have you ever noticed that if you see a really hot looking person who has a really horrid personality they seem worse looking, and the same in reverse, someone who has a beautiful personality will seem more attractive.

Thank God you're not thinking about kids, lol! Only joking. No, because I honestly don't think babies or kids are ugly, I know a lot of people say that, but I honestly think it. Even the ones who aren't exactly classicly 'good looking' are cute, and I don't think it matters, becuase all parents think their child is the cutest!

I am scared... the thing that scares me the most though is having an ugly child and thinking its pretty.... if u notice everyone says.."i was worried but MY child is pretty" are there that many pretty children? or are parents blinded by love? my neice was an ugly baby and everyone said how pretty she was... so even if u do have an ugly kid it won't matter... because to you they are the cutiest thing in the world. kinda digusting isn't it?

I have three children and one of them was ugly as a newborn baby. To be honest she was ugly until she was around 3 month old. I gave birth but wasn't blind - so no way I found her beautiful.
But - best of all - it doesn't bother me a second. She was sweet, she smelled georgous (most of the time) and she was my little baby girl - so what!
Beauty is a lot overrated these days.
I want my children to become thinking, nice and happy people. If they are pretty - fine. If not - also fine. At least for me.
