Well, addiction treatments actually get to save the society more money in the long run. It has been estimated that the costs of illegal drug abuse to society si $181 billion. And that was way back in 2002. Treating alcohol and drug addicts will be able to reduce this cost, as well as lower the instances of crime, lessen the spread of HIV/AIDS, hepatities, and other diseases.
Addiction treatments cost much because they need the money for medication. The professionals who are working with the patients also need to be paid their due fees. Otherwise, nobody will be able to help in counseling and administering therapies to the patients. The payments are also used to further better the facilities of the rehab/treatment center.

These are all good answers.
Think about how much money an addict/alcoholic spent becoming addicted.
In the long run, the treatment is a lot less expensive than the cause.

Counseling, medication, treatment it all costs money just like all medical treatment is expensive. There are some places that have sliding scale fees for lower income people and there are some government and non profit help available as well.

For individuals addicted to prescription drugs, treatments tend to be similar to those who are addicted to drugs affecting the same brain systems. Medication like methadone and buprenorphine can be used to treat addiction to prescription opiates, and behavioral therapies can be used to treat addiction to prescription stimulants, benzodiazepines, and other drugs.
