depends how broken it is and how much pain the patient is in. Anything from basic paracetemol to paracetemol with varying amounts of codeine sometimes with the addition of ibuprofen as well, If the pain is extreme they can also prescribe a oral morphine

Medicines like Darvocet (which is a narcotic pain medication) and some drs also may add an anti-inflammatory medication like Ponstel.
When I sprained my toe in 2003/2004 I was using a medicine similar to Darvocet to help the pain.

it depends on your allergies. i have never seen Morphine or Demerol prescribed for broken fingers.
usually nothing stronger than "Percocet" and i have seen Toradol on a lighter note used which is great for the pain/inflammation. some Doctors will prescribe Vicodin, Darvocet and if younger........Tylenol #3

It depends on several things, mainly what it takes to control your pain. The doc also has to take into consideration any medication that you're allergic to.
The doc doesn't want to see you in pain anymore than you want to; but unless the fingers a CRUSHED, I can't imagine that anything stronger than Vicodin would be needed.
