Any brand SD card will work.
At 3 megapixels, one photo should take up around 1 MB of space. So any SD card above 100 MB will do. However, if you get an SD card from a decently cheap supplier (I'd use eBay, although you may prefer to get it from a shop), it wouldn't cost noticably more to get a 512 MB card, which will mean if you find you are needing more capacity, you won't need to upgrade.
If you have an ebay account, here's a 512MB SanDisk SD card for £5.30 including postage, Buy it Now, from a seller with 100% positive feedback:

that's the cheapest Buy it Now 512MB SD card I could find on eBay that looked a safe option.

As it says SD/MMC expansion slot you can use either SD cards or MMC cards. SD cards are faster (the information can be stored faster on them and the camera is sooner ready to take a new picture).
With a 3 Megapixel cam a 256 or 512 MB SD- Card should do. It should not cost more than a few Dollars - I can buy here in Austria 512 MB SD cards for about 8 Euros which is approx. 10 US$). Have a look in the manual if there are any size limitations for the card. The camera possibly cannot use large cards but 512MB should work fine.

No you do not.

Any SD memory card will work with your camera. And as you only have a 3mp camera, here's a brief summary of cards to suit you.

128mb card = around 106 pics
256mb= 213 pics
512mb= 426 pics

And the good thing is you can pick them up quite cheap these days ( from as little as 98p! ) Try amazon for SD cards you can pic up some cheap ones these days.

what you need to know is
1.how many megapixel your camera is
2.what type of memorycard it uses ie.,sd , mmc , xd etc
3.how much maximum memory you can use with it
4.you can buy any compatible card on the market whichever you can find cheap
5.its always better to buy the bigger card (depending on the memory size your camera can take) as memory cards are getting cheaper now and the bigger the cheaper compared to the size.also if you upgrade your camera to higher megapixels you will need bigger card for same no. of photo's
6. memory size of 512mb is commonly acceptable. also if you reduce the quality of pictures taken you can always increase the no. of photo's

No you will need to check on the camera to find what card it takes, more than likely SD.
It depends on how many megapixel your camera is but 512mb should be enough to hold that many pic's for most camera's.

I think there are probably a few cards that are compatible, your best bet is to visit somewhere like Jessops who will be able to tell you (take your camera).
Also the manual may state the compatible memory cards you can use.
