The head of household may brew up to 200 gallons per year (100 for a single person). No license is necessary, nor is there any tax. You may give it to your friends, but you may not sell it.

No...Home brewing is not illegal except only if you intend to sell what you are making without a license. I belong to a home brew club, and would never think of selling any of the spirits that we make. Furthermore, depending on you state and federal laws you are allowed to make a certain amount for your own consumption. In our state it's probably 90- to 100 hundred gallons per year per family. But don't quote me on this, as for every state is different So, be careful, and think twice if you plan to make and sell, Check the law "Get a license" Hope this was some help.

A person "not" of legal age can purchase brewing kits and ingrediants legally. A person of 18 yrs or older in most states can serve alcohol in a establishment that has its liqour liscense.
A person not of legal drinking age can not purchase alcohol for their own personal consumption. They can however make purchases as their job, aka manager, for an establishment that has its liscense but still can not consume the beverages.
To sell a beverage or a food item by law and regualtion you actually need your permits/ liscenses. Even if its your grandma's apple pie. The reason for this is several reasons and the primary one is consumer safety. Be eating a improperly handled beverage or food item one can suffer tremendous health risks including death.
However, by giving food items away one does not need a permit or liscense in most cases. For instance in BBQ Bake Off Competitions, you cannot come unless your on a team. You cannot sell any product you make at all. If your a participant for the "PRIVATE PARTY" and on a team then your welcome to enjoy the foods and beverages provided by all the teams. At no time can one sell or purchase the food though from a team.
I hope this sheds some light on the subject for you.

Home brewing isn't illegal but selling it is.
My husband home brews and he competes with his cousin to see who makes the best brew..... I'm getting used to the spell of beer brewing.

in Missouri it is Not illegal as long as your hobby amounts to less than something like 200 gallons . To sell YES you need a license. below is only one of hundreds of good group sites. and for online shopping check out bacchus and barleycorn (I think in Shawnee Mission KS)
have fun and remember what i always say..."mead its not just for notebooks anymore!"

of course its illegal. but there's a saying about illegal things. " its not illegal unless you get caught." sadly my moral sense of things and lack of initiative i don't do stuff like that.
