ask Epicurus

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

God is not weak to heal believers of drinking, drugs and smoking habits. His hands are stretched towards us. He always calls us to him so that he can heal all our bad habits. We have been given a choice, so it's up to us to be be healed or not.

He has given us a free will. We make the decisions and the blame will come back to us.

Let's not blame God for our failures or bad habits

No he is not too weak, however these individuals must want to change and ask him for his help through prayer. It may not happen overnight, but it will happen eventually. Heavenly Father has given everyone free agency and the person involved in such activities must choose and stay committed to change, even if they slip up, they must continue to ask for his help and forgiveness (if necessary) and get back on the correct path. this doesn't just go for addiction, it goes for anything in life. There are 2 scriptures i like to refer to, the first one states:
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." James 1:5
and the other is:
" Do not suppose, because it has been spoken concerning restoration, that ye shall be restored from sin to happiness. Behold, I say unto you, wickedness never was happiness." Alma 41: 10

Despite whether or not anyone believes in a higher power, the truth is, people don't change unless they actually want to. For any major addiction or problem of that scope, the change has to start with a decision the person makes to start it. People can help them along, but changing, no matter what the problem, can only ever really be achieved by the individual.

You are accusing God. this is the answer of the bible to you.
2Pe 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2Pe 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

This one's so easy an unholy spirit could do it, or people on their own. Been done many times. By the way, not an illness to be cured of, it is the result of malnutrition.

No. I've heard MANY cases of Him doing so. I myself used to drink heavily before I became a Christian, but I don't anymore. I used to crave pot, but I don't do that anymore, either. Even after I quit the latter, I still wanted to do it. Now I don't.

As for smoking...well...still waiting on that one.

Do you basically prefer solutions from believers in God? i desire no longer. we are no longer improper lots as incomplete. Evolution (that dreaded word) maintains to push us in direction of perfection for a given environment. regrettably our environment maintains to alter so organic decision not at all fairly achieves the suited, leaving vestiges of previous results of the hit or omit trials.

God is never to weak to block all the vices mentioned. It is us human beings who are prone to temptations and less control over ourselves to defy the urge to do such vices continously.

God gave man free will, and while he will help us if we turn to him, ultimately it is our responsibility to fix the screw-ups we have perpetuated on ourselves. He will give us the strength, but it is up to us to carry the load.
