I have a Springfield 1911 and love it. They make them in stainless steel and have that old school World War II look with the U.S. wooden grips. If I could buy another 1911 it would probably be a Para Ordinance though. They make a great pistol and there are so many varieties to choose from. Shot some at the range and really loved them. I also shot the Taurus 1911 and we had some problems with it. It was jamming with some magazines that worked perfectly in my 1911. It worked all right with the factory mag it came with though. I'm not sure if you can find an actual COLT 1911 for under $700, but I'd love to have a Colt too.

Most manufacturers produce a 45ACP. Glock, Sig, Springfield XD, Kahr Arms. These are all very high quality semi automatic non 1911 style pistols. They all are modern looking in my opinion but are also plain, which is good for a combat firearm meant for harsh duty conditions.

Try a revolver as well.....
Models like S&W 325 and 625 & The Taurus 455 tracker are in .45 acp.
As for pistols? Glock, S&W, Taurus, sig, & ruger all make non 1911 .45 acps

What have you been smoking? You have to watch those unamerican statements. Just joking, we all have flights of fantasy and momentary lapeses in our sanity. Try the EAA Witness full size, stainless, 3 dot night sight, 10 round, S&DA, 489 msr, check it out at European American Arms. I bought three of them and they are superb; especially the reversed rails which give them a slim footprint.

Well you can check the movie Lara Croft, shes using HK pistols which is of the 45 caliber type. Think they are wonderful. Performance is also superb, I have one myself.

Go for a glock21 or glock30... If what your after is a
semi-auto pistol... You can even attach an FSSG on the rear of the slide....and wallah.... you've got a full auto pistol... :)
