Only those who are trying to re-inforce Levitical laws, which we (as Gentiles) were never under to begin with. God cares more about the condition of our hearts than what clothes we're wearing. He cares more about what's inside than outward appearance. "The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." -1 Samuel 16:7

In Colossians 3:12, believers are instructed to "clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." As long as we're clothing ourselves in this manner, it doesn't matter if outwardly we're wearing faded jeans and a t-shirt. Just because someone dresses in fine, expensive clothes doesn't mean their heart is right with God or that their worship is more acceptable to Him.

To respectfully disagree with another poster, I'm Southern Baptist, and our church (can't speak for the others) does not enforce any type of dress code. Our Pastor is usually found wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and flipflops. We want people from all walks of life to feel comfortable in coming to or visiting our church. It would be a shame if someone missed out on hearing about Christ because they thought they didn't have good enough clothes to wear to church. Christ accepts us where we are; why should His church do any less?

Interesting article (below) that says women didn't really wear pants until the late 1930s... but didn't seem to gain a cultural hold until the 1950s. I was really shocked to find that it took until the 1990s for women's pants to become fully acceptable in a business environment! (But, if I was a woman pressured to always wear dresses, maybe this wouldn't be so surprising to me.)

So, it might not be surprising to see a lot of old people (or very traditional younger people) still thinking it's wrong for women to wear pants -- especially in church. In particular are pentacostal and mormon churches.

They often quote from this verse to support their belief...
Deut 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

There are still denominations out there that DO that??? Wow - I'm 45 and women have been wearing pants in church since I was 10. This is news to me!!

The one which has the most sexually insecure men.
Some see pants as a sign of power, and some men can't handle seeing that on a woman for fear of feeling emasculated. I say if all it takes for a man to feel emasculated is to see a chick in slacks, he probably wasn't working with too much masculinity to begin with.

Mostly apostolic Christian women do not wear pants, but there are others also--Amish, Mennonite, etc. In truth, they are trying to follow what the Bible says about women not dressing like men.

Some Pentecostal churches, most Assembly of God churches, and the Mennonites. I believe the Amish and the Quakers do as well.

Oh, god! What a memory. Pentecostal, Oneness....some of them aren't allowed to shave either. Or cut their hair. Or dye their hair. Or wear make-up. Or nail polish. Or enjoy sex. Or go the show. I could do this all night, so I'll stop here.

Not sure, but I remember back in the mid-70s, we moved to a farm in Missouri. A neighbor woman stopped by our house to welcome us to the area and to invite us to her Baptist church. When she saw my mother working in the garden in pants, she informed my mother she was going straight to hell. So, based on that anecdote, I would say fundamentalist Baptists believe that way.

Pentacostal, Fundamentalist Mormans, apolostic churches. There are many very ultra conservative churches that ban it as well, including some cults.

I have no clue, but what a great marketing ploy that would be....I can just imagine all of the ways they could lure men into attending!!!
