You can live very well without sugar but not without salt. Ask anyone who's ever been on a hardcore no carbs diet. The lack of sugar isn't the problem, it's the lack of salt in all the carbs that gives people the shakes and makes their muscles cramp up. Then they have to drink bullion to replenish the salt they're missing. Having experienced a lack of both, I'd definitely keep the salt.

If you are talking about all forms of salt and sugar, then I would take the salt.

Iodized salt is necessary for some because they don't get enough iodine in their diet.

Salt is also necessary is its regulate your water levels in your body. Too little sodium and your body can't maintain the proper level of hydration. Too much sodium can lead to hypertension.

Table sugar is not necessary. It consists of fructose and sucrose sugars, both of which you can get from natural foods, like fruits and veggies.

However, if you are talking about natural sugars, then you'd be really screwed as your body breaks down the sugars into proteins and amino acids that your body needs.

Your body needs both, but everything in moderation.

Gotta have salt. It's very difficult to find in nature if having to survive off the land. Sugar isn't hard to find at all.

Salt. Sugar is the worst and it should be banned as a controlled substance.

The food companies that lace 90 per cent of the shelf food with it should face conspiracy charges.

I'd keep salt - it is vital for healthy body functioning, which is why the Romans used it as currency - salarium = salt = salary. Sugar provides no useful purpose for the functioning of the human body.

I would keep the salt because a little bit can sometimes make a meal taste much better.

i'ld keep salt and dump sugar because our bodies need salt (not refined salt--pure sea salt)--a portion of our blood is made up of salt and needs it for survival.

sugar is necessary too, but in much lesser quantity compared with salt. too much of sugar, especially refined white sugar, will cause lots of unwanted diseases due to breakdown of immune system and can feed carcinogens too which create cancer. i definitely wouldn't want that!!!

so, yes, salt please... though in the end i wouldn't survive too, because a little sugar is necessary to balance the blood... haha, and i would like raw brown sugar, please... :D
